Hi Steve just watched The Tiller People’s vlog not sure if you have ever watched Keith & Bernadette but what Keith doesn’t know about narrowboats isn’t worth knowing this all about composting toilets do’s and don’t could help you decide where you are going to dispose of your toilet waste stay safe .

I lived on a narrowboat for years and had a backup chemical toilet to the pump out tank as British waterways tend to close locks and sewage disposal points at little notice.

Along with other boats , I decided to overwinter in Hebden Bridge. Having closed the locks , British waterways then demolished our sewage disposal facility.

I was initially able to take the boat up through the locks ( about 5 miles ) to a boat engineering company that had a pump out facility during winter closures. When the ice and snow arrived , I had to use the chemical toilet and sneak the cassette into a pubs toilet to empty it. When living on a narrowboat , be prepared for all circumstances !

@@TheHappyTravellers Water levels suddenly drop , locks get stuck , fuel points shut , weather turns bad etc. Yes , prepare for any ocurance and view the surroundings before mooring overnight My rule of thumb was .... If empty Cider bottles were floating in the canal and on the banking , keep going and find somewhere better to moor.

Crt are bringing in new regs over disposal of compost toilet waste. Bin collection companies have been complaining. I haven't got a reference but chugging along mentioned it.

I thought the whole thing about composting toilets was the composting part of your waste? To my knowledge either garden compost or special compost briquettes that are broken down - with either a turn of a handle or push of a button to 'mingle and turn' excrement and compost - is what makes it dry and 'greener'? But you didn't mention the need for compost?

Hiya both nice vlog,would you see any problems disposing of the spoil from the compost toilet ? ie seeing as it is a fairly dry waste which bin would it go in.

Brilliant. I'd rather have one of these in the caravan. One thing, do us guys need to sit down to go for a number one, or is it easy enough to aim in the urine department? Simon

They recommend men sit to pee but I find it quite easy to aim it at the splash guard. Might depend on anatomical features though ;)

I’m fairly sure it went straight into the surrounding water and not as long ago as 1800!! I can remember when train toilets went straight out.....why you weren’t supposed to use them in the stations, there’s a thought?

@@anncarter9405 yes - I’m also old enough to remember the trains. 🙂The thought crossed my mind that they would chuck out their chamber pot contents into the poor canals. Maybe, when the Canal Museum opens up, the question can be answered, assuredly!

I remember going on the Norfolk broads in the 60’s and 70’s and you pumped the toilet after use so think it may well have gone straight out??

Very Interesting. I will be interested to hear an update after some use. Do you put anything in to get rid of smells or does the fan do it all (wee and poo)? May be worth considering for my motorhome at some point?

I must stop watching videos about poos etc when I'm sitting eating my dinner. lol. On a serious note though, it looks a good un to me! As for people complaining about human poos in bags in bins, I'll bet they have no issue with their dog poo bags piling in them? What the hell is the difference? People just like to moan in Britain. Got nothing better to do! Anyway. Glad you are both settling in. If you're in Crick by the way, we are parked not far from you right now near Rugby.

Looks like a great thing, i know that farmers use human waste from the emptying off sewage from the onions people have for their homes.

Hi ,interesting video although it a funny subject to talk about let’s hope CRT gets there arse into gear and get things sorted one min they encourage it the the contacted don’t want to touch it ,I don’t agree of people tipping the urine in the hedge row or anywhere else come to that it would not take long in the summer for the towpaths to smell like a public toilet 🚽 enjoyed you video be nice to let us know how you get on with it ,till next time take care keep safe keep warm,John 🥂🍺🌹👀🔥👍
