A powerhouse vocalist! As others have mentioned, her cover of Dream On with Post Modern Jukebox is fantastic. Another song I like is Morgan and Haley Reinhart singing Dear Prudence (Beatle cover). You can't go wrong with any song by Morgan or Haley.

You know Morgan… she was one of the women in All About the bass with Post Modern Jukebox you reviewed before. This was beautiful, but she was really holding back because man… can this woman belt out a song!

The guitarist is her husband. When pandemic hit and everybody had to stay home, they did nearly daily covers of all time classics, just he on guitar (and sometimes backing vocals) and her singing.

I love Morgan James but no one can compare to K. D. Lang, a fellow Canadian, doing Hallelujah at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Leonard Cohen's , the one who wrote it said K.D. Lang almost brought him to tears with her rendition. You gotta give it a listen. Thx for the reaction.

Yes...most people sing this as a gospel...they get confused by the religious imagery... but this is not what this song is.. it's a lament..it's about a failed relationship as if someone is sitting at the bar and telling the bartender the story of his/her broken relationship.. and Morgan sings it as such

Morgan is almost criminally under-rated. Fantastic singer! What can be better than a great, classically trained voice singing r&b/blues, etc.? Her Aretha covers will blow your mind. My personal favorite is her singing a PMJ-altered version of "Maps".

Oh man, you can't go wrong with Morgan James! She is a vocal soul singing powerhouse! Go down her Post Modern Jukebox rabbit hole with 'Maps', 'Dream On', 'Take Me To Church', and her other covers and originals. That was Doug Wamble, her husband, on guitar and he is an amazing artist also.

Morgan James also performs with Post Modern Jukebox. Her voice is sexy and her vocal range and control is absolutely crazy. She has both low and high registers.

I really liked how she seemed to be comfortable with her voice. It seemed full-bodied somehow, like she was able to fully use her chest voice. 😁👍 That said, my personal favorite goes to Lucy Thomas (Official Music Video). I don't know how to put to words what she does differently with her "instrument", but some people watching it will need tissues! 🤧😌

Morgan can be an absolute powerhouse of a singer, but has terrific finesse and feel for the music. She's an opera graduate from Julliard, but decided she didn't want to make that her career choice. She's since done a broad range of vocal work, all well. She is world class, on the same level as Floor Jansen in my opinion. Dig into her KZfaq channel to get a good sampling of her work, often in collaboration with husband Doug Wamble, the guitarist on this version of "Hallelujah".

Scott Bradlee and PMJ feature the best of the modern vocalists.....all are so good at many genres of music and are great in any performance........of course, in Morgan's case, a Julliard training doesn't hurt.........the late Leonard Cohen ( R.I.P. ) is smiling from the heavenly choir........

Ms. James is a deep well into which you can dip your toe. Her work with PMJ is awesome (Dream On, Maps), But her solo work spans from the Beatles to Peter Gabriel, to Sting to Eric Clapton to Marvin Gaye. However, she lists Nina Simone as one of her primary inspirations, and I believe the one piece that should not be missed by anyone is her cover of Miss Aretha's "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man" with Marc Broussard.

This is a beautiful rendition of this song. Of course, I would expect nothing less of Morgan James! To experience more of her range and ability I'd suggest you listen to her version of Dream On which she performed with Post Modern Jukebox.

From what I could find, her range is something like C#3 - F#6, which is of course a perfectly respectable range for a classically trained soprano. Three octaves, plus a fourth, and basically the same as Floor Jansen's range. I have heard that Morgan in her whistle register can hit some crazy notes, but I haven't heard her do it myself. What impresses me the most about her is the way she focuses her resonance. It's like what happens with a very well-made electric guitar where the instrument will resonate with the sound coming from the amp, like it has a life of its own.

What to say about Morgan…..Well, there are two female singers that stand above the others in the pop music world. Morgan James and Adele. Morgan is the more technically skilled of the two. Her voice is darn near flawless.

I just red evryone comment, how come no body mention K.D. Lang for this song?? the only singer that had Cohen aprouval. She delever all the emotion and meaning of that song. Personally, I thought the mix was awful. The harp was over miked and the resonance muddy. Morgan was almost drowned out on many occasions.

I had to think for some time whether I should comment on this. In my opinion, this version is best suited as a lullaby - but no more. Totally set up and for me the worst cover I've heard of this gigantic song.I would a thousand times rather listen to the young Lucy Thomas with this song, because at least she can do it!

Leonard Cohen is the original and still the best. This cover is a "meh" for me, like most covers of Hallelujah.
