To put it simply, if you want a "good" pair of laceless football boots, you're going to be spending $200+. Yes, Adidas makes $100 takedown options, but they're pretty shocking when it comes to fit, comfort and overall performance. But what about the in between? Well, there isn't really a mid level price point option, until now.
In today's video we take a closer look at the New Balance Tekela v4 Magia, the $140 laceless option in NB's latest line up of football boots for 2022. Sitting just under the excellent $215 Tekela v4 Pro, the Magia is the only middle ground between the $100 laceless takedown options from Adidas, and the $275+ top-end ones. How do they compare? Well, way more closely to the expensive ones, which is a very good thing! We discuss why these are easily the best budget laceless football boots on the market, and why you should be considering them if you're after some boots without any laces.

Would you say that there is a big difference between Magia and Pros? My local store is selling the Magias for about half the price of the pros so I am really considering them. But the "local" store is quite far away so I havent tested them yet...

I just bought the top ends and I love them soooooo much. First laceless model and they fit so well. No issues with lockdown and slippage especially with pure grip socks.

@@64kingarthur unfortunately the liner broke about a month ago. Just bought the new tekela lows and cannot recommend them more. Very comfortable and light, good sole plate and upper.

It’s pretty easy to pick up a pair of lotto solistas for under 100 on sale which is surely the best budget laceless option still.

@@KnowledgeableServant so far so good. I’ve only used them in about 5 or 6 games so they’re finally breaking in. But they feel surprisingly sturdy for laceless boots and they’re very lightweight which I love for my play style

I would tell everyone that’s considering these boots that the support in your heel can dig into your skin. If that’s been a problem for you before you should think about that

If I don’t feel completely locked down when going to turn at full speed, I lose all confidence. For me those studs need to feel like they are screwed into the soles of my feet. Superfly 4 did that perfectly.

The Tekela v4 Pros fit my feet so well that I had a training session with them _with no socks on,_ and suffered no blisters. Somehow. In particular, the boots are doing something special -- for a laceless boot -- with the heel lockdown. If Adidas aren't studying the Tekela v4s right now, they're sleeping.

The only thing I hate about new balance boots is the awful rubber they put at the top of the heel counter, that crap is constantly rubbing the top of my Achilles its such an awful design. Other than that it's ok. Blisters are so fun.

Look good but as the father of a 15yr son who plays pretty competitively there is no way he’d wear NB.. or any of his friends who play either in HS or club. They’re not “cool” (got him Adidas Speedportal+ on the cheap from a local shop)
