I don't know if SPB speaks Kannada and I hope he understands what I am about to write. I saw him live from row 2, in a Church in Austin, Texas, a decade ago I think and I had tears as this man means so much to me. I still recall he sang just 2 Kannada songs BUT all the North Indians got ticked off as he never sang a Hindi song during the concert and they had paid money too. I still recall, SPB, perhaps jet lagged, apologized profusely to those North Indians and just aced Rafi's songs. :-). Yes, PBS was a legend and I have watched him perform Live in Jayanagar 4th block in Bangalore during 1979's Ganesha festival. But Sir SPB. NIm thara barilla sir yaaru. Neevu devara samaana. Nijvaglu. Nangey neevu you made me what I am today, because I just listened to your songs during my formative years. Neevu yelrigu holgalLthira BUT nijvadh kalakar and devru, neevu sir. I really hope you plan a concert in the USA again, as I can watch you sing. You are the true GOD of music sir. PBS, Rafi all came later for me. YOU were the one who shaped my life.

Dear Balu Garu, when I grew up radio was the way of listening to music. One of my first ear opening instance was to your divine voice was Aayarpadi devotional. I have played your song to my kids , and as you prefer stating MSV sirs song where you were instrumental to it, but to fans like us the spear head of a song is the singer. It was sheer magic when PBS sir sings for Gemini Ganesan in Tamil films. While TMS sir did the playback for most Sivaji, MGR films, PBS sir created his own niche and audiences for himself with his mellifluous voice. Sir, you are very humble and greatness personified in bringing out this detailed, poignant and pleasant memoir remembering Shri PBS. Sir, your reference to PBS sirs Hindi duet with Lataji - which is the first duet by a south Indian male singer with the legend - is very interesting.
