Delta is the first US carrier that has impressed me in any video on KZfaq. Usually it’s the asian carriers that stand out most of the time but Delta in this video has really been impressive. Their A350 was so well maintained inside, their meals of good quality and IFE was very responsive. Hats off to Delta for their service. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and thank you to the channel for great videos like this as always !

DTW is, design wise, one of my favorite airports in the US. It has a very “international” feel including panoramic views, tall ceilings and windows. Reminds me a bit of HND.

Believe it or not, that terminal is actually almost 20 years old!

I was really impressed when I went on Delta Economy. I had the same trip so about 8 hours. The staff were friendly, got an eminity kit, was served a snack and drink, had a choice between 3 lunches, then they handed out ice cream half way and had a tea and cookie service. There was another meal before landing. A full.meal.

That view from 12:50 onwards, absolutely gorgeous! I love a night landing with the city bathed in lights, like a table strewn with glittering jewels.

Thanks so much for posting this. I flew Delta (basic economy) round-trip Cincinnati-Paris in October 2019, and my impressions pretty much mirrored yours. Delta certainly has made a major effort to upgrade their economy service (and this extended to the attitude of the cabin crew: on both segments, they couldn't have been nicer or more professional). Like you, I appreciated all the little extras (hot towels, complimentary candy, amenity kits), as well as a noticeable improvement in the meal service (both quantity and quality), not to mention complimentary alcohol. Let's hope that Delta can keep up this momentum!

I was lucky enough to fly on a A350 a few months ago. And even though my seat was just by the engine, I was amazed at how quiet it was compared to other planes.

I have flown between Detroit-Amsterdam, and Detroit-London (Heathrow). The experience is great, even in economy and their meal service has been really nice the past few years! Food is hot, fresh, and looks great and everyone gets a placemat/nice utensils to keep the tray table clean. It really does make you feel like you are experiencing a luxury, even in economy.

Took Delta from Narita to Singapore. Was told not to expect too much compared to Asian airlines. Well, the haters were wrong! Generous US-style luggage allowances, warm service and an overall satisfying meal experience made the trip a truly pleasant surprise.

"Detroit's airport seems to be quite new". It was almost 20 years old at the time of this filming. A lesson learned: when you invest in good design, it can last a long time!

The Delta McNamara terminal at DTW used to be the Northwest terminal. It’s the oldest terminal in operation at DTW. The North terminal is the newest replacing the Smith terminal which is now being torn down.

Detroit is the best airport for Delta. Very under rated. And the tram is amazing. I also like the Techno tunnel from B - C to A terminal and it's worth the walk

i flew many american carriers such as American Airlines and United airlines: the staff on american and united were rude and i flew once on delta on the same route but with the A330 and oh my lord. Delta had given me the best experience ever on a american airline!

Wow, I was surprised to see my home airport get such high praise! I’m glad you enjoyed the train system... it’s been down since COVID, sadly, but I’m kinda surprised it hasn’t been down earlier, considering this whole terminal comes from when Northwest was using this as one of their biggest hubs quite a while ago! Kudos!

While SQ is degrading its economy service, DL learns from the old SQ standard. The hot towel, the menu, the drinks and snacks, the cheese and crackers… They remind me of the good old days of SQ.

Delta has really stepped up their game in recent months, so that even economy is tolerable now, which is more than I can say for any other airline in the US. Even flying economy on Delta domestically isn't a horrific nightmare anymore. Detroit is a really nice airport. Because I live in the NE and fly Delta I connect through Detroit all the time. Depending on where I’m going, sometimes I have to switch from Terminal A to Terminal C. Delta has both terminals. I've ridden that indoor train a few times. It's lots of fun! I am wheelchair-bound, so if I’m on the train, someone's always waiting to meet me at my destination. The people at DTW are great! Everyone is very friendly. The Delta gate agents are always happy to watch my bag if I have to excuse myself. I’m the first one on the plane, and the flight attendants are so good about helping me get settled and getting my bag in the overhead. Because of my injuries, and the fact I’m in a wheelchair I don't really fly economy anymore. Delta usually upgrades me to Comfort Plus for free. I saw your Biscoff cookies! I love those things! The flight attendants apparently know this, because they always sneak me extras, lol! One of these days, I hope to have enough money to try out Delta One. I want to visit Portugal. It's on my bucket list! And I want to go back to England. So....just how big is the 350?

I'm currently in my native country of Sweden visiting. On the way home to New York we'll be flying on Scandinavian Airlines's new A350-900. I am looking forward to it. Thanks for a great report!

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne Country Airport was built way back in 2002.It's 18 years old.I really remember the old Northwest counters at this airport way back in 2005-2010.Miss Northwest Airlines.Loved the roar of those Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines on NWA's old DC-9s.I really loved riding on those monorails at Detroit.The airport is old but still looks in good condition as it has been well maintained.Hope you had a good trip.

I like Delta's economy on the A350. It's very good!

I don't even travel that much (and my destinations so far aren't very diverse, but hopefully I can remedy that when it's safe to travel again) but I really like DTW, the lines aren't too long (from my experience anyway) and it's super clean and modern. This isn't my home airport but it's the one that I mainly fly through :D And I also love how unlike other channels you don't put music or a voiceover on your videos :)

Living in southeast Michigan, I use DTW a lot, with Delta. The airport is great and was completely rebuilt when Northwest had DTW as its hub; this was prior to Delta's acquisition.

My mom and I flew with Delta Airlines back in 2019. We were able to fly on their Airbus A350 and it was a good experience onboard. Unfortunately, the A350 flight from Seattle to Tokyo we were on ended up delayed for more than 3 hours due to technical issues on that aircraft.

I did that same flight last year on the A350. Great flight. I was in Delta One.

My spouse and I were on our way to Amsterdam last March. During our flight they announced the travel ban because of COVID. Got off the plane and got rebooked on the next Delta flight back to the USA. I flew that same route in March and I was very impressed with the service and also the comfort of the a350. Compared to other transatlantic economy flights I would say delta rates near the top.

This is my home airport and I love it. After Delta bought Northwest Airlines (previous hub) they did a complete remodel, I think it looks epic! Gotta love the architecture and the tram in the terminal, it never gets old to see it go by or ride in it. Nice job on the video, I have some family in The Netherlands so I’ll probably fly this route and aircraft sometime in the future.

QUICK DELTA TIP I SAW FROM A FLIGHT ATTENDANT! this is just kind of a cool feature, but if you pull up the flight tracker screen that shows distance in miles/kilometers to your destination, you can hold down on the name until a list of other places pops up, and you can see your distance to any of them!

That A350 is a beautiful aircraft! And Detroit looked a lovely airport.

I actually flew into DTW from Amsterdam on an A350 in April of last year. I loved the airport as it was VERY clean and extremely easy to navigate. I think it took me about 10 minutes to get from immigration to the gate for my connecting flight to Orlando. Admittedly, I travelled with carry-on only, so I could skip the whole part where you have to pick up your luggage and go through customs 🙂

It’s amazing, all of the things that you were wowed by are so basic for airlines outside of the US - hot towels, menus, bottles of water. These are standard on European, Asian and Middle Eastern carriers!

This terminal still looks like 13 years ago. I once flew NWA from Detroit to Germany back in 2007. And took a photo of the 747-400 prototype through that dotted window.

Detroit is Delta's second largest hub after Atlanta. It was Northwest Airlines largest hub. Detroit Metropolitan Airport was recently voted the best mega-size airport in the United States.

Certainly a better-than-average flight! Those little extras (including a choice of dinners) can make a passenger feel valued. I appreciate that you really wanted to report on the "regular" legroom, but having a window seat was more important to give us the full experience. I have a Delta pilot in my neighborhood. I must tell him that he "done good"....

Detroit Airport is my favorite airport. The terminal is so well maintained and clean, very efficiently run. You rarely wait in lines ever. Most terminals its age are so old and raggedly. The steel and glass design has aged well. It’s a European airport in America.

Delta now has amazing aircraft portfolio...what i love the most based on my experience are...A350, A330 300 neo, and A220.....but especially when flying in economy long houl...i prefer 330 Neo than 350, as for a 220..just an amazing level of comfort for a narrow body

I remember a time when all the u.s air carriers provided a meal on flights that were 2.5 hours or longer in length even domestically. Now most of the domestic u.s carriers provide a purchasable box of miscellaneous goodies. It seems as though Delta is trying to align back in par with a more reasonable economic experience.

I’ve had some bad experiences with Delta recently, but this looks as good or better than any long haul economy class I’ve ever seen. Certainly better than any I’ve been in.

Usually the bulkhead seats don't have a window, this seat has got to be the best seat ever. Two windows, extra legroom, direct aisle access, with the first class service of Delta. What more can we ask for.

Love the Trip Reports! Back in 2008 I flew from Detroit to Dulles on an A320...my departure gate was A56.

Delta always wins because they focus on the fine details, I love flying their a350 and it's a bummer that I haven't been able to due to covid19. Delta is so good that I plan to keep my loyalty with them even though I'm based at SFO/SJC now.

Ive flown American Airlines to spain my mom my sister and I were upgraded to premium economy on the way and hear me out the beef pasta on the 787 was a belly stuffer it was so good along with the fruits and yogurt in the morning for breakfast

I flew this route a few years back with Delta, but it was a 330 back then. Came in from MSP. It was a Great flight, I always fly Delta as my destination in the US is always Minneapolis. Unfortunately had a 8 hour lay over in AMS, before heading south to Spain 😟.

DTW is my favorite airport I live near Detroit and I flew on Delta on their 3 year old Airbus A330-300 from Detroit to Amsterdam it took 8 hours and gate number was Gate A38

I had the chance to fly with Delta many times, a NRT-PVG (Tokyo Narita to Shanghai Pudong, yes, they offer this route), two LAX-PVG, one PVG-LAX, and one PEK-SEA. I would have to say that even in economy, Delta service is very good, regardless of whether you are flying in 767, 777, or 350. Catering was good, small menu cards, and complimentary beers (I like that). I initially chose Delta because its mileage can be deposited into China Eastern (I live in Shanghai), but I would definitely choose Delta again if I am traveling to US.

I like these more than brutally honest

I'm a 100% service connected disabled veteran, whom was denied reasonable accomodation by Delta Airlines on four different flights recently where Delta Airlines and their employees discriminated against me and violated my civil rights. Unfortunately, I'm dying from End Stage Liver Disease brought on by Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, so, Baypines VA RMC booked flights with Delta to Richmond VA RMC for my wife and I to complete final evaluations to get on the National Liver Transplant list. We flew on 01/30/2022. Our return flights were booked for 02/03/2022. We had called Delta Reservations on 1/23/2022 and 02/02/2022 prior to flying. We were assured both times that Delta could certainly accommodate my request due to my documented disability. On 01/30/2022 we checked in at TPA to fly to ATL and on to RIC. We were two hours early for each flight where my wife and I were denied each of my requests for reasonable accomodation at every gate. Delta reservation #'s for myself were F7U6M8- JM726p and for my wife Liz F7VNAV-JM3Y2S Some of the symptoms of ESLD can be medically dangerously acute, and the edema or fluid retention can be extremely painful and dehabilitating. My reason for requesting bulkhead seating was because sitting in a no legroom/upright seat causes severe swelling in my legs and scrotum which imobilizes my lower extremities. I then have great difficulty being ambulatory and the pain increases as the pressure of the built up edema fluids becomes worse and worse. We had requested to speak with a Delta CRO several times and were told no CRO was available. We possibly had a CRO in RIC, however, she identified herself as a supervisor and did not resolve my repeat ed requests for reasonable accomodation. Plus, on none of the flights was I approached by a Flight Attendant to ask if I needed help in case of emergency egress. This whole process has been excruciatingly painful, embarrassing, dehibilitating and has caused me to become bed ridden while my disability has worsened! We have never been so disrespected or been treated in such an insufferable dehumanizing manner while Delta employees continually denied my repeated requests for reasonable accomodation. We seriously believe, if the Delta employees we asked to help could have cared less about us, they would have! On our last flight home an announcement was made advising everyone on entire plane not to eat peanuts because of a passenger with nut allergies. Why was this person afforded their request for reasonable accomodation while ignoring and denying all my requests?

I flew Delta a few days ago from MSP to AMS. The service was rough, to put it politely. You can sort of feel the resentment from the flight attendants as you board. I try to be as nice as possible, always saying please and thank you and smiling - to make up for other, rude passengers and the fact that the FAs are so underpaid - but I still disembarked feeling sad about the whole experience. The menu cards and newly-formatted meal service would have seemed so much better if it had been executed by the KLM FAs from my outbound flight, all of whom were wonderful. I had chosen the Delta flight for my return to have a few more hours at home, but frankly I regret not catching the KLM flight.

In December I flew delta one on their A330 from Minneapolis to Honolulu and it was AMAZING. The service was great, food, WiFi. And the seat was super comfy too. Edit: I flew to Phoenix from DTW and saw the train. I thought jeez DTW is modular af.

Detroit's updated international terminal and security handling is no Changi, but it probably is the best design in the U.S. right now with Denver's upcoming renovation probably the only competition. If JFK, EWR, PHL, and ESPECIALLY LAX were as good as DTW is now, travel would be so much nicer.

You would have enjoyed the Delta Sky Club in DTW very much! Access is available via a Membership with the Club, where you can access the club any time you travel with Delta, both pre-departure and on arrival (assuming your arrival lands you airside and not a final destination international arrival) or you can also get access with a Platinum card (personal or business) from American Express. Also, be sure to join BA97 and you can see when fellow travelers will guest you in under their lounge access. It's a great tool.
