Wow the price for artist ally is really not bad. I assumed its would be around $1000+ since it was Anime Expo. I would love to one day have my own booth in an artist ally. It looks so fun!

It's definitely on the more reasonable end! It's also a good baseline on other events' table fees. If an event is priced close to AX's table fee yet it doesn't yield a high attendance nor is it as long, then it's definitely on the pricier end, and so on

I understand from context clues you don’t have a lot of insight into artist alley table costs, so I wanted to let you know that many people don’t make that much of a profit depending on what they sell(especially if they focus on original art as opposed to fan art). Based on experience tabling on and off since 2013 I find that even $300 is the most a convention should charge if they aren’t like… San Diego comic con. Many smaller artists don’t break even after spending $300+ renting a hotel for 3+ days, paying for the table, parking, food and any new merch you might have ordered to sell. I just want to be informative about the real costs of tabling at a convention and not discouraging, please make plans to table in the future if you want! It can definitely be a lot of fun and worth your time regardless! ☺️

I saw videos of the crowd waiting in the convention city. You are brave to do that expo. So many people, I would have gotten overwhelmed.

Honestly, I don't know if I'd attend this con if I wasn't in Artist Alley since vendors at least can bypass the general line and come in early 😅 I'd feel overwhelmed and stressed if I was an attendee

Day 1 me and my friends lined up in the garage south hall at 6:45am. We didn't get let in until 10:45am on how crazy the lines were. AX is crazy and I'm still convinced they over sold tickets. I'm so glad your booth did well and everything is so cute!

My table makes tiny appearances in your video! I'm the booth behind you with the big pink tape box by the barricade (e62 to be exact)!! I def agree with you on a lot of your sentiments. Especially regarding the Annex and that being towards the end helped us both a bunch for line management ahaha. Despite all the chaos, at the very least, we survived and are satisfied at the end of it all! Congrats on a successful AX 2023!

You were so nice and kind, you made an already anxious and overwhelming day a bit more bearable as I come from a small town in the midwest and was able to fly to Cali to meet some online friends for the first time. I was only there on Saturday, but it was awesome to finally meet you and see your table in person! It would be fun to sell at AX next year, but hoo boy, that was the first time in a while that I’ve seen so many people in one place. 😵‍💫 Even with all that space, there was almost no space to walk through haha. But it was my first anime con ever, and it was totally worth it! ✨

So sad I missed you when I got in Saturday (and got in after the blue ita bag had sold out, but was as excited to snag a pink)! In addition to the crowding, about 2-3k of us were put in a weird line in the parking garage with no staff and no signage, with a single metal detector and every single bag checked regardless of size, so it took nearly 5 hours to get in while all the other lines were in within an hour. It was so hectic and overwhelming, but I really enjoyed it and I am SOOOO happy with my bag!! And I'm so grateful you sell the extra inserts!! I super needed them, haha. I'm so glad the con went well for you and I hope I'll see you there next year!

Congratulations on the successful con. I'm wondering if a rotating display would be helpful for the space problem. Like a 2-3 layers of grid cubes stacked together over a lazy susan kinda thing.

That's definitely a great suggestion! I've seen other artists with a rotating display. I'd personally go with a more narrow style since I don't have much space up front as I'm prioritizing table storage

I appreciate so much your vlogs. I've been vending for less than a year now and I've always wanted to go to a con to USA. of course AnimeExpo is my main goal. Do you think revenue is achivable for someone that has to pay hotel, transport, food and flights from outside USA?

Oh definitely! AX is one of the bigger revenue cons and it's common to make 5-figures here assuming you have the appropriate amount of inventory and your products are popular in the artist alley scene. It's also common for this con to have a lot of international artists

When you set up your table, do you leave your inventory there too? Or do you only bring it with you on the day of the con?

I usually bring my more expensive items with me. It's up to the artist, some just leave all of their stuff while others tend to pack everything up each day and bring the items home/hotel to avoid theft
