Lovely wow The Simpson desert ,, Australia is an awesome country it’s so vast and so uninhibited ,, Love your videos Mick and Sally ,, all that greenery you mentioned earlier from your previous trip a few years back is that because the government and conservation agencies have stopped the indigenous people Aborigines from doing control burn offs ,,? Didn’t the Aborigines do controlled burning this kept the weeds from growing and allowed them to hunt and live successfully off the land ,, I know there were terrible fires in Australia 🇦🇺 because we sent people over there from New Zealand 🇳🇿 to help with fire fighting , it was mentioned that at certain times of the year the Aborigine people would deliberately set fire to the forest and land that would burn all the rubbish undergrowth and hence this would prevent major bush fires during the hot season as many people lost their valuable homes and some lost their lives from these intense wildfires ,,
@justcruisinwithmicksally837
@justcruisinwithmicksally837 10 ай бұрын
The controlled burning by the aboriginal people that you refer to happens in the topic north of Australia. This is also done by the National Parks of Australia as well. There are no people living in the Simpson Desert leaving it as untouched natural bush.

I was cheering you all on over Big Red!! Thank you so much for taking us on your trip, it was most enjoyable seeing how different that even the desert can be - especially after a rainy season. Though I did expect to see more birds on the water & even some animals around. Loved the big lizard, what a beauty. He wouldn't have lasted long if the Aboriginals had found him. Now I am looking forward to watching your next adventure & taking the van will be more comfortable I imagine!!

My hubby and I enjoy your videos very much, we learn alot about country and camp sites we may get to one day. Would like to know the tent set up you used, plus that scone recipe and how it was managed without burning!!!😅
@justcruisinwithmicksally837
@justcruisinwithmicksally837 10 ай бұрын
Our tent set up is made by Dune which attaches via a rope track to our vehicle side awning, very quick and simple to set up and pull down. My niece who made the scones has a very well known reputation in Burra SA for her great scones. The recipe that she uses is unknown to me , sorry.

@@tomj6950 we leave parachilna Gorge tomorrow for Mount Little Station, should be good. Wilpena Pound weather wasn't the best to catch up with us as the day we arrived it was very hot so we sat inside. The second day we went driving and the third day it was wet. As a result it is the first location that we hadn't sat outside at all. Always next time 😀😀

Fancy seeing that much water out there in the desert, what a sight. A great trip that `sadly I am unable to do now, but at least I can say I’ve seen it at least. I assume you went up big red in 4L, which must have involved a lot of RPM to keep the momentum up.? Thanks for sharing your trip
@justcruisinwithmicksally837
@justcruisinwithmicksally837 10 ай бұрын
The green out in the desert was an unreal sight to see. 4WD low range is too slow to go up Big Red so it was 4WD high range or blow a motor.

As much as I like your videos I feel disconnected from the actual experience. It's more of a narrative of your experience rather than seeing what you get up to each day with real life on the tracks and. Camp sites talking , cooking, chatting in the car with your partner etc etc

4H as the engine revs are too high and the vehicle speed is too slow in 4L.
