The Mediterranean cities all prosper on trade in this game, disrupt the trade and they will suffer a slight knock of income. Considering the size you can’t expect much damage but it’s a start. Build your fleets, start taking the less well defended cities then send your armies in. Open another front. How I managed to beat the Seleucids in a game I played once 😏

@Corn Flakerr0 Macedonian is similar to Hellenic but not the same because Macedonian culture had Illyrian and Thracian influences...
@samuelnerad2429
@samuelnerad2429 4 жыл бұрын
Intel Stock Cooler Macedonian has few influences (at least in real life) from Thracian and especially Illyrian cultures. The Thracians were to the Macedonians what the Gauls were to early Rome, and Greek culture had a much wider effect on Thrace than the opposite. By the time of Alexander, Macedon was undeniably Hellenic (of the Thessalian variety) in culture, speaking common Greek and following no non-Greek customs. The only major thing that set Macedon apart from the other city-states was its history (it was for a long period a Persian vassal) and mindset. The mindset of the Macedonian kings was definitely influenced by their Persian overlords, as Greeks practiced synoikist methods of rule (identity as a city state matters, not the land and borders don’t exist). On the other hand, Macedonians saw themselves as an empire, with a defined territory and a need to expand for the sake of Macedon and its ruler, much like Persia in that regard.
@intelstockcooler9686
@intelstockcooler9686 4 жыл бұрын
@@samuelnerad2429 ye ye bla bla bla...Macedonians had some different traditions and customs. Greeks from south never saw Macedonians as their own kind. Macedonians became accepted in Greek world only when Alexander managed to defeat Greek enemies (Persians) and he spread Hellenic culture. And to say for Thracians and Illyrians that they were highly influenced by Greeks although Thracians and Illyirans were on Balkans before Greeks is ignorant. Look at the pictures of ancients Illyrian cities like Delminium, those are all megalitic structures superior to most of the later buildings in the antique. Theres a lot of things in antiquity that we dont know for sure and we only have Greek and Roman writtings to navigate which are biased by the way...
@samuelnerad2429
@samuelnerad2429 4 жыл бұрын
Intel Stock Cooler actually, Macedon was settled by people of Argos and the people of Macedon were recognized throughout the Greek world as a Greek state since its founding. The ruling family of Macedon from 700 B.C. To 310 B.C., the Argead Dynasty, literally derives it’s name from Argos, directly translating to “from Argos.” Also I am not basing my statement on Greek or Roman sources, I am basing it on archeological evidence and the testimony of Jacob Burckhardt in “A History of Greek Culture.” Also, Illyrians had almost no impact on Macedonian culture, in fact as I have said, it was the opposite, the primary example of which is the settlement of the Daors, which became Hellenized and is still the gold standard for analyzing Classical Illyrian culture as a result. Also to say that because Illyrians and Thracians were more advanced because they were first is utter garbage. The biggest counter to your entire argument is the fact that Illyrians and Thracians only ever build small villages organized by tribes, and, more importantly, that the Thracians arrived in the Balkans 1500 years after the Greeks at the very least and the Illyrians as well are predated 1000 years by the Greeks to the Balkans. As a fact, there were more Greek polis in Thrace by the time of Phillip II than there were Thracian cities. I do not even know what you mean by megalithic structures that were greater than the Greeks’ in Thrace or Illyria, as a quick search turned up nothing. The Greeks beat out the Illyrians and Thracians in every manner, and attempted Hellenize them until the Romans conquered Illyria. Even the “Illyrian helmet” that dominated Greek warfare for a time was actually created in the Peloponnesus. So, before calling me ignorant, I suggest you take the two seconds it takes to actually learn the real history instead of the popular history

Hi. The biggest threat for your phalanxes are not other phalanxes or pike men or even sword or axe men provided they don't attack them from flanks or rear. In this battle your phalanxes took very heavy (in fact too much) casualties because of MISSILES. If possible don't let them too long under the fire of skirmishers. Pike cavalry and Alex's compagnons would have had better to do on the right wing than first charging already hold infantry ennemy units. Once the ennemy's cav has been shattered you have to quickly chase and kill the missile units. Then your own skirmishers must get out of the center and harass from both wings and (better !) from the rear the ennemy inf units. You also took too much casulaties from your cavalry and lost half of them letting them ride in front of inf units ! Phalanxes are the bulk of your armies, cavalry is your jewelled sword, and skirmishers your thin and long dart !

Wrath of Sparta was 432 BC, Rise of the Republic 399 BC. That makes this the 3rd earliest start date in a Total War game. At least until the Age of Bronze mod releases a campaign or the supposed Troy release makes that mod obsolete.

To be more accurate, Craterus was the second best general after Alexander and then Parmenion, who commanded the Thessalian cavalry. The Thessalian horsemen and horses were considered the best of the age even better than the Companion Cavalry. What I've mentioned about both those men can be found in Arrian's Anabasis Alexandri (The Campaigns of Alexander) and Quintus Curtius Rufus' History of Alexander. Coenus was very good; the man who played a pivotal role in the Battle of the Hydaspes River and was excellent in the other campaigns.

Great that an Alexander mod has been made. I don't understand though why people always make out the Agrianians to be axemen in these mods. They were javelin men. They should read Arrian and Quintus Curtius Rufus. Are there any re-skins for Alexander, Darius and Macedonian generals? Darius doesn't look Persian at all and the Macedonian generals were not bearded.
@dimipartcaster7770
@dimipartcaster7770 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Agrinians were the best javelin and with Cretan archers and Rhodian singers were elite forces. I disagree with you though when it comes to generals. The generals who were at the same age with Alexander were shaved but the older ones-which served with Philip-were not.

I spent , literally 3 years (on and off) trying to get the Caesar in Gaul campaign to be as Historically accurate as possible. The problem is the AI doesnt give 2 shi*s about what we want lol. If im playing as a historical character, i want to do what they did. If i wanted to do it some other way, id just use some anonymous general. Hope all is well

GREAT video, been waiting for this mod. But just one thing. While the Macedonian ruling dynasty was Hellenized, they were not Greek. The Greeks were city state traders. The Macedonians were a kingdom made out of 16 tribes. Hellenic was a culture, like Celtic, Greek was something of an connected ethnic group like Gallic. Again, GREAT video. 😉
