@@wuzumaki No complaints at all, a lot sturdier overall than the Sprints I had. All pedals have a nice feel to them, throttle is smoother and easier to modulate, trail braking is much easier with the progressive feel of the damper and clutch feels more fluid. Did you see any wear at any contact points? Would you expect to see the finish wear off over time on the pedal faces? Thanks for your extensive work on this project.

@@Havok412 hey did you ever try the VRS? I’m trying to decide between the two right now
@Havok412
@Havok412 Жыл бұрын
@@cptclutch2530 Hey yes actually we built a budget second rig so my brother could play too and we used the VRS pedals. They're honestly great too but overall I still prefer the Simtrecs. However one of my reasons is that the Simtrecs just feel closer to how a car would feel and I prefer that. The VRS are harder to setup since they have much more adjustments you can tinker with and you have to use a separate control box. The simtrecs have that built-in to the pedals. I didn't feel the need to adjust the Simtrecs beyond the options it has. and the default way the VRS came in where fine for the most part. Overall it still falls down to preference and for me, the Simtrecs were plug in play, they looks amazing, feel closer to real pedal box. Adjustments on the Simtrecs are easy and the instructions are great. Negatives were Sim3D rumble motors are double sided taped onto the gas pedal since there is no option to hard mount. VRS pedals use the same hardware. (They work great on both I just don't know if it will last). Adjustments on the VRS are not necessarily hard but there is steeper learning curve on how to adjust them properly if you want things like a harder or softer feel brake or longer or shorter travel. There is no manual and the only sources are from a VRS video that you would need to reference. I don't particularly like the feel of the VRS throttle. I get its super responsive as it has no dampener and it only uses the spring. You can adjust it to feel more heavy but for me its still not heavy enough. It does have a competitive edge though. Simtrecs are more expensive but you get what you pay for. Not meaning the VRS are cheap I just think they're both prices well for what you get on either decision.

Which ones would you go with, these or the meca cup 1s? Actually Barry, and everyone else looking at these VS the HE sprints - realistically speaking, how much of a difference do the dampers on all pedals make in the overall immersion and feel of the pedals. I preordered these but I keep going back and forth between them and the sprints mostly because of the price. If there's anything I don't really like about the simtrecs is not being able to change the throttle faceplate. Nonetheless with some 3D design i may be able to make an adapter plate that can accommodate other faces. I am also think about painting the pedals, I wonder if I can actually get away with doing that to them without seriously damaging anything. Edit (3 months later): Mine just arrived today and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! stuck at work though lol

I've been debating if it's worth upgrading from my Sprints (2000$ in Canada). it's basically the same tech used for both pedals but the extra cost for a such a beautiful pedal only offering dampers and much better looking product might be best to invest into something different like Hydraulic. If Simucube didn't cost 3500$ per pedal I would do that. I know when you get a new piece of gear we all get exited and forget the fundamentals so after all this time what's your general opinion and what are the bad about these Simtrecs?

1. I think the SRG just give a thorough explanation of each product. Doesn't seem fairing comparing because preference is subjective. 2. Price could vary quite a lot depending on shipping and taxes for where different people live. 3. Best thing to do is get as many different opinions on feel as possible (or test them), and make your own decision based on your criteria, and remember to check shipping & taxes. 4. I think you'll more likely get a response if you phrase your questions differently i.e. "Which are your favourite pedals?" or "Which are your favourite budget pedals?" rather than asking for a direct comparison, or ranking. Or maybe try and email SRG so that it isn't in the video comments?
@anupjsebastian

Im also deciding between these two at the moment. Here are some of my considerations which might be useful. I still haven't made my mind but.. Ill share anyway: 1. Heusinkveld handle more force but most people dont need the forces that even Simtrecs handle. 2. Heusinkvelds use all load cells which basically have infinite life (like 200 million cycles or sth ridiculous like that). Simtrecs use pots which will eventually wear maybe years down the line, but consider that even logitechs use cheap pots compared to this and Ive seen some of those work for like 10 years easily. The pots seem to be easily replaceable by the user if you can find the correct part number too. 3. Heusinkveld use a cheaper manufacturing process like you said and look worse than simtrecs (Simtrecs are absolutely beautiful), and also use off the shelf dampers. Even though this is the case, I believe it is a good thing as you can replace the parts on your own. Replacing the damper on the simtrecs can be done by the user, but the part might need to be sourced from them as they are anodized. You might be able to get something off the shelf but it wouldn't have that color. Of course, this is given that the fail which is highly unlikely. The dampers also seem to work better on simtrecs from the videos ive seen. Just watch the two SRG reviews. 4. Hs have an external electronics box, which is extrenal -> more interference, more cables but can be upgraded down the line. Also they are 12 bit vs 16 bit on the Simtrecs but in the practical sense it doesn't matter, and Hvelds can be upgraded down the line. Simtrecs are difficult to replace the electronics ( not that hard if you can get a board from them, but harder than Hs) , but how many times has some simple electronics board gone bad on you? 5. Simtrecs easily have the better presentation (not even close), cost the manufacturers more (maybe atleast double the manufacturing cost), have better software, although Hveld seems to be working on one for Ultimates. 6. Simtrecs are cheaper by like 200 USD, but you might have to wait. I placed a preorder and I am in batch 6 (didn't have to pay anything yet), however they are estimated to ship at the end of july or in august. Hvelds are available almost always. 7. Simtrecs use a weird usb cable which is difficult to obtain, 1/8 inch jack to usb. Might need to contact the manufacturer for a replacement. 8. Hveld are an amazing company with an established, tried and tested product, with great customer service. I know they are almost certain to exist maybe 10 years later too. Simtrecs are new but I don't know if they will be there long term or if they are a boutique manufacturer and they focus on this short term. They probably will be there and this wont matter if the product lasts. 9. One flaw in the design of simtrecs I found is on the throttle pedal. On the max throw setting, the pot arm seems to touch the back. This is not a load bearing part and it might be possible to bend it with enough force. You can easily solve it by setting it to a slightly lower throw setting, where this arm doesn't touch. The pedals also seems to have a hard stop as barry mentions in the review. Heusinkvelds have a soft stop which can feel better under the feet and uses an easily replaceable blue stopper (looks like urethane, not sure though). In short, Hveld seems to have a philosophy of extreme durability and easy maintenance, and awesome customer service, but also with higher margins. You can also see this from them just using stock fibroelastomers that kinda look ugly compared to the all black ones on the Simtrecs (although the sprints have nice looking ones). Simtrecs are more about creating an elegant product that kinda hits all the marks ( apple like in a sense). It easily costs them more than twice as much to make their pedals than Hveld, given same labour costs, and are also cheaper. Hveld Ultimates are also quite old, and may have an upgrade soon in the next couple years or so I think, but I don't know how they can make it better, other than maybe integrate the electronics at the cost of some servicability, and have some nice software with it. Which is better? I dont know. I would like some of your suggestions as I don't know which one to buy. In any sense, having either of these pedals will be a dream to use anyway.
@talamies
@talamies 3 жыл бұрын
@@anupjsebastian at the end of the day I bought the Meca Cup 1's. To me they sit between the HE sprints and ultimates. Do they look as nice? No but my feet are on them so I don't care as much. I can almost buy 2 sets for the cost of HE ultamotes. Software - they both use the same and it works. I think parts would be a wash either way. Like you said a control board is a pretty easy swap on HE and Meca's. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with either pedal set. Buy what makes you happy. You are the only one who has to live wirh that decision. I choose to use pedals that work for what I want and use the savings on other sim gear. Good luck man.

Anyone that has these directly mounted on a Sim-Lab P1-X Universal pedal plate?
@Quickmcj
@Quickmcj 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can mount in the slots, 14cm between the bolts. Be aware that you will need to buy M6 25 or 30mm bolts, large strong washers and nut. And the M6 will exactly just fit, its tight. Another option could be to mount directly in the p1alu profiles that might be a better option possibly, but I am not sure where a heel plate would go if needed. They also sell their own baseplate as you see in Barry's review.
@wuzumaki
@wuzumaki 3 жыл бұрын
@@Quickmcj Yeah, I saw the measurements yesterday, and it seem to be a very snug fit without any room for depth adjustment. The reason I want to have it on the universal plate is because I have a slider attached to it. I'm not sure if the Simtrec Baseplate is compatible with the slider. Do you have these pedals, and if so, how did you mount yours?
@Quickmcj
@Quickmcj 3 жыл бұрын
@@wuzumaki yes and they are mounted the way you want it 🙂 It works, but I feel the slider flexes a tiny bit when braking hard. I do consider mounting as Barry, and then with quick release bolts in the profiles of P1, to slide the pedals back (so skipping the sim lab slider and base plate) Sliding on the side profiles on P1 as I propose will possibly leave marks after some time. But that should be very strong. I have the wide simtrecs baseplate that is too wide to mount on the sim lab slider baseplate. You could possibly mount it in the bottom of the profiles and then through the slots in the sim lab baseplate. Or maybe choose the narrow simtrecs baseplate, I do not know if its mounting holes align with the simlab slider baseplate.
@wuzumaki
@wuzumaki 3 жыл бұрын
@@Quickmcj Ok, thats good to hear. Judging by the schematics, the Simtrecs plates don't align with the Sim-Lab Slider baseplate or the slider itself. Didn't expect the slider to have any flex at all. Since it's only a tiny bit it probably doesn't bother you? Your QR solution seems like a possible way to do it, but that leaves the possibilty of creating a whole bunch of scratches, which everyone wants to avoid. I'll try the direct mounting when I get them. Thanks for your help.
@Quickmcj
@Quickmcj 3 жыл бұрын
@@wuzumaki Its a very tiny amount of flex , you cannot feel it, but you can see it. If you remove the slider, and mount the simlab baseplate to the p1 profile base, that might work (giving you heel support) or as you say directly in the profiles. Or with the slider as I do atm :) Sure np.

I'm wondering who taught you to heel-toe that way? I was taught by a pro racer that "heel-toe" is really a misnomer. That the proper technique is to use the right edge of the right foot, rolling the foot over the brake pedal to blip the throttle with the outside edge of the foot and maintain consistent brake pressure. That is why racing shoes and boots have a reinforcement on the outside of shoe/boot to take the wear from blipping the throttle.
@hansgrietjes7310
@hansgrietjes7310 3 жыл бұрын
IMHO, it Depends on the pedal setup in the roadcar you’re driving. With f.e. BMW, you can use the side of your foot. With Porsche you need to move your heel over to get on the throttle.
@volo1826
@volo1826 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the set up of the pedals of the car. Carl Yarborough of nascar was famous for his "toe-heel" method. Heel on the brake, and tow to blip the throttle. Since the brake pedal and throttle pedal are far apart on a stock car. Like many things, I expect the correct method is whatever it takes for you to win.

Odd choice to put a potentiometer on this high-quality of a set...They will fail.
@Quickmcj
@Quickmcj 3 жыл бұрын
Those look like Vishay cermet long life high precision potentiometers with a (within specs), minimum, 2 million cycle lifetime. Very easy to replace and not that expensive, when you need to do so, after maybe a decade.
@DouglasThompson
@DouglasThompson 3 жыл бұрын
@@Quickmcj Thank you for pointing out the difference. I have only experienced bad potentiometers I suppose. I used to have issues with many pots being that I was a musician for much of my life and also my sim gear I recently purchased from Fanatec failed within a couple days (Handbrake). Knowing this and hearing others go through similar problems is a no-go for me now. I understand potentiometers can have different quality levels as anything does but there is no denying hall effect sensors should theoretically outlast any potentiometer. Even load cell technology bothers me a bit. I'm just all for sim gear to be as robust as possible and adding failure points to gear in this price range seems like a poor choice.
@Quickmcj
@Quickmcj 3 жыл бұрын
@@DouglasThompson Your point is valid, but exactly these pots should last a long time and is easy to replace. A lot of equipment do come with cheap pots for sure. Also, you can actually replace the pots with hall position sensors if you really want to extend lifetime. They are in the same rotary form as pots and input output the same.
