SimWorks Studios Van's RV-10 was supposed to be a hit! It is a super light, super powerful, kit aircraft that has had a lot of sucess. Was it ready for release or are we public beta testers??
Full flight review showing all the positives and unfortunaly a lot of negatives. We will go from cold and dark, discuss the tablet from Sky4Sim, the problems with the working title Garmin 430, and other auto pilot issues. Let me know if you think this was ready for release!

Absolutely thankful for this. I literally had it in my cart on justflight, and thought 'let's go lookup some reviews on the tube'. Just removed it from my cart as I've already been stung by the hypetrain bee this week when I purchased FSHud and found it, what's a nice way to put it, WANTING. Thank you for uploading this.

great review... i bought this yesterday as well as the kodiak and 14 in the past. i was so disappointed with the nav button. the way they blame asobo and WT in the known issues section on so many products worries me that if theres a big enough update that breaks the plane they will refuse to fix it and continue to point fingers, i mean hell even the RV14 avionics are abit janky. the only thing they got decently right so far imo is the kodiak which will prolly end up being a one off that they use to define their company or development standard and then toss out trash after trash... id have been perfectly happy with an analog setup or g1000's and i still dont understand why they are blaming WT and Asobo i mean the 530 AP Nav button works in the RV14, tells me all i need to know. i aint touching another one of their products.

You’re welcome! I wish they gave more clear instructions. I’m curious how the paid features are? Have you tried Navigraph on other aircraft that use the GTN750 or in game window? Check out my Cessna 182 RGII for a look at how that works.

I wish I saw this before I bought it. I did get the autopilot to work. You have to turn it on FIRST and then select Nav mode. However, it randomly stopped working. I really like the Van's line but this has too many issues. I hope they will fix it.

I’m sorry you got burned on purchasing this. What bugs me the most is that the developer obviously has flown it in its current state and just released it. Not good at all.

@@sprocketsimulations It makes it worse that other KZfaqrs give it better reviews than it deserves and they don't even mention any of the issues with this release. Makes it seem like they got paid to do it. No integrity.

Me too I wish I saw this presentation before buying it. If SWS don't come up with an update soon, I will give them the benefit of doubt and not buy any presumable new garbage from them in the future.

Hm.... No new updates for these two planes? Which one is the better one today and what are they lacking?

I don’t fly either. I know that Microsoft/WTT made improvements to the G3000/X suite so it might be better with some of those updates.(But I think 3rd party developers need to update their aircraft to allow this to be used) But I’m sorry to say that I think this was a pump and dump aircraft.

I have bought from SWS: the Kodiak Series II, the Kodiak Series III Amphibian and the Zenith Stol, and also the RV10 as soon as it came on the market. All other aircraft are excellent so, please, please SWS, just do something about the RV10, like update it as soon as possible. I want to wash away this feeling of being stung by such a reputable creator of aviation products such as yours. Thank you.

I’d reach out to them to let them know about your disappointment with it. They are a good company, and I think the flight dynamics are there but it is just a shame they released it as is.

@@sprocketsimulations Thank you so much! I would really appreciate your input. I also think that the flight dynamics is ok, but it needs badly an update. In the meantime, it rusts in my hanger and I have to use the SR22 as sort of a replacement. Cannot wait to enjoy it. Please tell them, if you can, that the other airplanes that I have mentioned here, I find them excellent. Cheers!

I don’t believe so as they have not updated a change log. I think it was a pump and dump while they work on the PC-12 which has been delayed a lot of times.

When? I don’t see an update since release? Can you tell me the version number you have. You can see it in your content manager.

The only issue that has been listed as fixed is the auto pilot bobble I mention. They still have the other issues marked as “known”.

The gildepath indication wasn't working because this airport has no ILS approach. Glideslope wouldn't have worked for RNAV.

Glide paths will show up on an RNAV with vertical guidance. ILS will be in green and a RNAV will be pink/purple. This approach is an LNAV+V and has vertical guidance. You get the glideslope indicator just fine in other aircraft. This one is broken. I just flew it fine in the Carenado C182T. Follows it perfectly and how it should in real life. Diamond moves down and captures great. To have vertical guidance on an RNAV it needs to be LPV, LNAV+V, or RNP. If it is just LNAV there is no vertical guidance and would not have GS info.

@@sprocketsimulations Fair enough. I had looked at the approach chart before commenting and it only listed LNAV so I thought that was the reason why you got no vertical guidance.

It still captured “something” but it was too low and not reflected in the cockpit. The aircraft is severely broken when it comes to the functionality. The flight model feels good and sounds are good but it is basically a shiny VFR only aircraft in its current state. I appreciate you watching and your comment!

first of all Good Content by the way always look forward to them and why would you buy this if people have the RV14 and RV14A so with all the annoying things i won't be buying this

For me the RV14 is too small and it feels way too much like a kit with that cockpit canopy and details. The rv10 is bigger and seats 4 and has a more finished cabin. I won’t be using this RV10 though as it is just not really flyable. Looking at their other aircraft and the known issues logs, and log updates, I see a lot of excuses blaming MSFS for issues and not fixing them. Funny that other aircraft function just fine…

Owner of Vans aircraft love their crafts. Rarely you see one that's not superequipped and shining. They are build in kits by fans that love them more then wife. Look at Van's airforce site, lots of builders showing their aircrafts, all polished and with fancy colours They are not old school aircrafts like Pipers and Cessna. Thevonly thing I don't like are seats ... Too thin?

I agree about that, and I’m not looking for beat up Cessna trainer use, I think they could have done a better job of at least showing some variation with the textures and especially behind the exhaust. It is a personal preference but I feels too sterile for me and needs to have something, anything on it to show it has been used a little. A couple of hand prints are not enough for me. No static elements is also a let down. I would love this aircraft to be functional because it is such a cool design and so fast!
