True she once said gay and transgender people were severely mentally ill and an abomination to God. Made her unpopular but she’s right except about the god part…there is no God

I never knew this version existed. A great performance by an extremely gifted singer who sneers, sings and screams throughout. What the world thought was cowardice in the 1990's is now looked upon as a great act of bravery. RIP Sinead.

To me one of the best outstanding tracks on her album apart from Troy…Mandinka & Drink before the War in my opinion! The songs were harsh, load, brash and angry and very personal

I remember the first time I heard this song. Back in 1987 when it first came out. It gave me goose bumbs. The intensity and vehemence in the way she sang her songs. Especially this one! I became a fan at that moment. Still probably my favorite song of hers. And still gives me goose bumps when ever I hear it!

I love her. She is a brave and misunderstood soul. Bless her for her courage and conviction. I was in college radio when we received her first album "the Lion and the the Cobra". The minute I put the needle on that record (yes, this was BEFORE cd's), I was in awe of her talent and her fury. She was pissed WAAAY before Alanis.

I was there when John Maybury filmed this at the Dominion Theatre on TCR. The lion & the Cobra was her best album in my mind. It was angry, powerful and sharp! Jerusalem was all the above! It’s my favourite track on the album. Of note usually the 3rd track on albums are usually the strongest or main song! Hence Sinead put it there!
@mapndo233711 ай бұрын
Only sometimes is the 3rd track the strongest. I think it's clear Troy is her crowning achievement.

I agree - I don't think Alanis could really hold a candle to O'Connor. Alanis's record never did a single thing for me, but Sinéad's yelps and screeches were real. I wore out my tape of "The Lion and The Cobra" in college. Yes, I'm also ancient. :)

this is one of my favorite songs for it's raw power and emotion, but i had only know the album version of it. i am stunned. her strength, intensity, the words fail to do justice. others who can feel will know, and we are brethren. i have lived in her heart, in her head, in her skin. it is wondrous as it is terrible.

This was the Peak before the 90's Collapsed what was Great. 120 Minutes was not flannel shirts and Sound Garden, I would stand there ready to record dpeche MODE, Inspiral Carpets, New Order, Erasure, Sinead, Book of Love . This first Record was mind boggling Great. 1988. Best year for music.
