To God be the glory. He gives every gift, and we need to be careful not to elevate mere man, who is as a vapor. Every man, even at his best state, is altogether vanity. God bless you all.

It's a song with a very sad story... very, very sad. May God not only sing it, but understand it because of the number of people who suffer oppression. Glory GOD!!

Be Thou my Vision, not the preforming and in awe , with whoever those 2 people are. 😔😢 Please don’t get sucked into the entertainment industry. Christ Alone 🙌🙌🙏🏽🙌🙌 . Only True Believers can Truly Worship and then Only then God is Truly Glorified 😔😢🙌🙌🙏🏽🙌🙌🤲🏽🙋🏼‍♀️ It was so Sad to see preforming . Same hymn without the power, for such a Time as this 😢😪😪 I love you both and God has used your worship in the past to help me through all my brokenness. May Our Heavenly Father, guard your heart from the lies. Love you both.

If they worship Christ Jesus from their hearts, that is true worship. Jesus does not look at anything but the heart. He knows our heart.

Responding to comments about 'rock and roll' style... from the 'chat replay'...and my thoughts about beats, imposed worship vs real personal expression: The performance style of singing with orchestra/band will always seem more grand, focussed on the performers and making a big spectacular sound... it's not the same as just a small group singing unaccompanied or individuals singing the songs to encourage themselves through life's struggles - then the song words seem more real and needed!! I'd prefer to listen to one or a small number of singers (who mean and feel what they are singing) with a guitar or piano or unaccompanied. That's more effective for me and less stressful for my senses. More natural and relevant to real life. But then big events need big noises for the people at the back to hear it... (or to compete with worldly entertainment?) and professionally arranged and excellently performed music. If the majority want it with a beat and it helps keep people singing in time together then I suppose it needs it. If it sounds too much like pop, rave or rock and roll music I'd just turn off and go and listen to something less torturous instead. "I can't sing the Lord's songs to the devil's beat!" - perhaps many would agree with this and others would think the beat can be 'redeemed' and used to worship God. They are welcome to their opinion but should recognise that not everyone can go along with it! Not everyone can cope with the sensory intensity of such imposed/forced 'worship experience' it is supposed to be generating. I think our worship is more real if it comes out of what's going on inside us not by how much we can go along with what everyone else is singing while trying to ignore our own lives (even if that is seen as a virtue like a 'sacrifice of praise')! How much richer the church would be if everyone sang and shared their own song from their own experience... and not just leave it to professional song writers to give us songs to sing. I suppose it doesn't happen enough because most of us think are own songs would not be good enough to share or are not suitable for a congregation or for formal church services where excellence is required!

Paul quoted Ps 24:1 when talking about food sacrificed to idols. I'd like to apply it to music as well - to anyone whose conscience is clean, the music is clean.

I’d like to kindly respond to your comments. Your personal preferences are important for you, and should not be dismissed. But they are simply your personal preferences. A small performance or a large performance can be self-centred or Christ-centred. It is in the heart of the performers. Sometimes they can disguise their motives well, other times their overt intentions are clearly on display. But it is also very easy to misjudge a person’s heart & intent. That which “seem more real and needed” or “more natural and relevant to real life” are very subjective. I would recommend you put your preferences into action, and listen to music that helps you worship the Lord. And attend church where your musical preferences are enacted. After all, you get to choose what you do and don’t listen to on KZfaq and what church you attend. I would recommend you do that without trying to determine to heart and motivation of Christian musicians. Lest your assessment be wrong and you condemn a person’s righteous actions. Rock is in 4/4 time with the heavy beats being 2 and 4. What particular verses of Scripture can be quoted to confirm this is the “devils beat”? I do not get my theology from David Bowie, but rely on Scripture to form my theology.

@@ttbministry I understand what you say. Thank you for replying! It's not so much the performer's motives that's the point but whether the listener can worship God along with the music or is distracted by things they like/dislike or struggle to cope with. I personally have a problem with loud or harsh beats that sound more like machines than music, but if other people can worship God with that going on, good for them! Some people say (or used to say) that the violin is the devil's instrument but I think that's ridiculous - that was the opinion of people in an area where fiddles were mostly used in ungodly dancing music... Maybe they are right in some ways, but I'm biased the other way, growing up with a violin teacher! I suppose labelling anything as 'the devil's' might just be a subjective judgment by people who can't stand that thing, whatever it is. I was just mis-quoting/making a comparison with the verse in Psalm137:4 "How shall we sing the Lord's song in a foreign land?" as you could probably guess. It's great that there are music styles to suit practically every taste on KZfaq.

@@yahccs1 Hi! I just saw this conversation and found it interesting. I appreciate the politeness here in contrast to the vitriolic debates so many other places. I was actually in the audience live at this event and can testify to the fact that there was true worship happening. But I agree that everyone has their own preferences with worship. I know someone who gets distracted when there is a lot going on, on the stage, however I know others who aren't affected by that and worship just as well with it. I could go either way, honestly. So much hinges on the culture. This was true even in biblical times, which is why it's useful to study ancient Israeli culture to understand some of the things in the Bible. Obviously there are rights and wrongs, but there is some room for recognizing that people see things differently because of their backgrounds. There are certain music styles unacceptable to worship music in some countries because of strong associations with immoral lifestyles. It would always be a distraction. Yet, those associations can also change over time, like your example about violins. This is where we need to seek the Spirit's direction when making decisions for our own churches, concerts, families, etc.
