The Österreichische Kaiserhymne, composed by Joseph Haydn, was the national anthem of the Austrian Empire and subsequently the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy from 1797-1922.
In this video, you will hear the full 6 verses written by Johann Gabriel Seidl, which was officially adopted in 1854 and would be the last official iteration of the anthem before the Empire's collapse.

This was Haydn’s favourite composition that he wrote. Even in his old age, he would make an effort to play this tune on the piano. According to his servant, this was the last song Haydn ever played: “The Kaiserhymne was still played three times a day, but on 26 May, 1809 (5 days before Haydn’s death) at half-past midday, the Kaiserhymne was played for the last time and that 3 times over, with such expression and taste that our good Papa was astonished about it himself and said he hadn't played the Kaiserhymne like that for a long time”

No matter how hard I tried to play the Kaiserhymne on the piano, I always play it terribly. I haven't played a single note since my grandpa died.

Franz Joseph is the sixth-longest reigning monarch in history, behind K'nich Janaab Pakal, Johann II, Rama IX, Elizabeth II, and Louis XIV.

@@LightgreenLP If only. But Otto did become Austria's representative in the European Union and in NATO. So while he may not have ruled Austria, Otto von Habsburg was one of the last Habsburgs to which Austria's fate was united with.

History: Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser (God Save Francis, the Emperor) is an old Holy Roman Imperial anthem written in 1797 by Franz Joseph Haydn and Lorenz Leopold Haschka. It was a personal anthem to Francis II, the last Holy Roman Emperor. It was written as a counter to Revolutionary France during the War of the First Coalition (1792-1797). After Napoleon destroyed the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, Francis II became the Emperor of Austria. In 1826, Lorenz Leopold Haschka wrote new lyrics for Francis II, who was now Francis I of Austria. This song remained the anthem of Austria until the death of Francis in 1835. From 1835 until 1848, the melody had the lyrics: Segen Hohen Sohn Österreichs, Unser Kaiser Ferdinand! (Bless the High Son of Austria, Our Emperor Ferdinand!) After Ferdinand abdicated in 1848, the 1826 version of Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser was used for his nephew and his successor, Franz Joseph (1848-1916). In 1867, when the Austrian Empire became the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the anthem was officially changed to Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze, which was originally written in 1854, with revised lyrics in 1856 and later, in 1867. Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze would be used from 1867 until the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918. This tune is still used today in the German National anthem, Das Lied der Deutschen, or Das Deutschlandlied.

Indivisibiliter ac Inseparabiliter was the motto of the Austrian Empire before it became the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It remained the motto of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but the irony was that it was already mostly divided, with Hungary having its own government. The only thing that kept it united was the fact that Franz Joseph was both the Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary.

Please clarify what do you mean with Bahasa, because that’s not an English word. Is that Bahasa Melayu or Malay, Bahasa Indonesia or Indonesian, Bahasa Yawi or Yawi, Bahasa Banjar or Banjarnese? Bahasa is simply a Sanskrit word for a language and it’s used by many languages in South East Asia.

No, no, an imperial anthem in 40,000 different languages is not confusing at all. Singing it in German is just the boring vanilla option.

This anthem was sung in German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Romanian, and Slavic. These are only eight languages, not 40,000. Also, singing it in German is justified, as the same music became the anthem of Germany, Das Lied der Deutschen.

He sings with a kind of Bühnenaussprache, but at the same time it sounds strange, because he doesn't have the toning s [z] as you have in German even in a normal conversation and some other peculiarities.

Not exactly! The Kaiser had been the Holy Roman Emperor of the German Nation and the author of the new revolutionary words used the only National anthem they knew. The third stanza of those words are the German Anthem today. The Austrians who also had a claim to the anthem changed theirs to a tune at the time to have been composed by Mozart
