The Usual Place is overpriced at a hawker center; the hotplate tofu is $12/$15. Please keep in mind that I need to compete for a table from others. If I prepare to pay this price, I want a comfortable restaurant with aircon. Good video! 👍👍👍!!!

Can boycott the overpriced ones, many other good outlets to eat from. The rojak prices also seem ridiculous. Sometimes I think they probably thought we print money....

Even before I finished watching this, I want to rush there and eat the 1st time hawker's beef rendang and the sambal goreng... later see you ordered the same thing. Must be good!

Haha.. these are private setups.. no longer run by Govt.. but it’s still a very welcoming sight for residents up north of Singapore who’s gotta travel far to eat at a hawker

Nice that they finally have another hawker centre in that area! But it does seem like the prices are higher than the Sengkang one. Hope the crowd dies down soon!!

Yeah.. most seems to be established hawkers expanding their outlets.. but Punggol residents rejoice even if it’s a little bit more to pay. Save time save money 😄

@@melvinch did you know the older hawkers are paying cheaper rents? If they retire.. I don’t know what happens to the rent.. Govt prob gonna repeg it to high prices. If they wanna keep our hawker culture alive.. probably gotta make the rent cheap.

Consistent with their main branch at Queenstown $1.50 a wing. Kudos to the Lao pan even tho rent is vastly different

Prices are not as friendly as other hawker centers! Parking fee also quite expensive!!

Ok la, now all business think we print money, just print more lor... anyway ayam penyet here only 6.50 At the new $44 million hawker at tampines, a new ayam penyet stall prices starts at $7.30 for a similar set. I think same owner, the signboard almost exactly the same.

Just searched Google maps. Sam Kee LRT is nearest station. Bus would be 382, 84. Do ask the bus driver you want to go ONE PUNGGOL HAWKER CENTRE

My, my Piggy. You are getting about the town these days. All the way out to Punggol no less. Two comments: First, let us see what competition does to the prices here. Like many of my fellow commentators suggest, the prices look comparatively high to me. Mind you, I feel that a lot of hawker food is under priced. Paying enough so that hardworking, highly skilled hawkers make a decent living isn't such a bad thing. Next, the highlight of course is the Robbie the Robot kopi machine. I predict, and remember you heard it here first, that such devices will be the next 'must have' kitchen appliance and will both outsell and outrank even SMEG refrigerators as the number one lifestyle statement. Oh, and I went out to Punggol last trip. The little people movers are a hoot, but I thought at the time that it was odd that I didn't find a hawker centre. I presumed this failure was the result of my lack of local knowledge. But no, there were simply none to be found. So, why no hawker centres in Punggol, Piggy? Some sort of a social experiment by Harry Lee the Younger or Mr Goh?

Haha.. what were you doin out in Punggol?? Think the Govt stopped building hawker centres since the 90s.. the newer estates were given coffee shops to the highest bidder to operate. Hawker centres were kinda ignored then.. until we won this ‘title’ all the newer hawker centres of late seems to be opened by the Timbre group. I’m not sure if the government has any stake in it at all

I should have asked what’s the rent like for these hawkers.. $4-5 seems to be the new norm now. Most young people seems to have accepted it. I’ve heard from many that it’s very hard to get help in the F&B business.. and with a wage of 2000 and up.. it’s no wonder how difficult it is for anyone to take a risk to be a hawker. Robbie will definitely have to come into play as you predicted 😅

@@Piggypuggy What was I doing out in Punggol, Piggy? Well, first, I'm a public transport nerd and seeing the people movers was a must. Second, Singapore in all her moods fascinate me. Getting out to see the new, far-flung suburbs is part of that fascination.

@@Piggypuggy I have managed to talk to the owner of the Changi Village Fried Hokkien mee few days before his stall is open. He told me that the rental is around 1.5k excluding the utilities and cleaning fees. So the rental is not that high...

Are all the food video showing are organic dishes? Are they encourage to eat organic dishes ? Base on the price of organic ingredient, the organic dishes are tasteless and no much sweetness. Should use approved industrial food chemical to enhance the flavor of organic dishes. Can make more things in the end

WAYH VERY EXPENSIVE LAH. ONE BOWL OF MEE COST SIN 10 DOLLARS. IF 2 PERSON TAKE BREAKFAST IT WILL BE SIN 20. EXCHANGE RATE SAY SIN 1 DOLLAR. EQUAL TO RINGGIT RM3. THAT WILL COME TO RM60 FOR 2 PERSON TO HAVE JUST ONLY BREAKFAST AND DRINKS NOT INCLUDED. LIKE CAN BANKRUPT LAH.
