Singapore Zoo: Opening of Frozen Tundra

The first polar bear born in the tropics, Singapore Zoo's very own Inuka, moved into his new Frozen Tundra home today during a grand 'housecooling' party. The 2,700 sq metre exhibit features climate controlled resting areas, an expanded pool for Inuka to swim in, and two new sections for Inuka's new neighbours: raccoon dogs and wolverines.
Modelled closely after the arctic habitat, some of the innovative features of Frozen Tundra that help replicate the chilly climate of the arctic include a new, larger pool filled with giant ice blocks so Inuka can enjoy refreshing swims, and an ice cave where he can retire to, to enjoy a polar siesta. Natural substrates have also been incorporated to provide him with a rich and varied home.

i remember being a little girl and going to the zoo. And i remember every time my family and I would pass by a sign with the polar bear on it, I would force my parents to follow me to the polar bear enclosure. And I always saw the polar bear swimming around and having a great time. And one day when I went to the zoo, the polar bear enclosure was gone. And since it has been some time, I was thinking to myself "Was it even there before?", since my parents told me there was no polar bear. But I always knew that the polar bear was there. Years pass by and I went to the zoo again my with family and I saw him, the polar bear (i forgot his name). And I felt so happy but sad at the same time. Polar Bears are amazing creatures and his story was truly heartbreaking about his mom and stuff. And I do hope he is getting air conditioning or something even though he is out in the open. he does have a huge ice block for him to get on but I do feel like he needs something more. Because Singapore is so hot, I feel bad that he isn't getting the temperature he needs. And I do feel a little sad because he isn't like the Polar Bear I saw when I was younger. I mean, yeah, you can't have 2 animals and expect them to be the same, but he has less energy not like the one in the past. Sorry this is such a long comment but I really wanted to talk about it.

whats the use of keeping a lone animal like a prisoner. he has never seen anything outside his enclosure since the day he was born. and the mum couldn't even live to see this new home. how sad :(

dear owners of the Singapore Zoo. I am Anton from Moscow Russia. I visited your zoo and was extremely outraged by the conditions in which POLAR BEARS live. their natural environment is 30-40 degrees Celsius, but they live at + 30-40 (despite the fact that visitors are in a cool room) in Moscow it is not so hot in the summer, but the polar bear has a mountain of snow in its cave at any time of the year. I watched the animal suffer with my own eyes... for whom death is better than such a life. you must have compassion for endangered animals, do not mock them. this sight ruined my entire vacation in Malaysia. Inuka brutally murdered in "one of the best zoos in the East" thank you, excuse my english
