The police are there to monitor and control rather than "save lives". Were you born and bred in London, because if you are and you don't know what the police are really about, you're conditioned, there are people online who seem to be calling for more police, like you are the police itself, or is that how simple things are for you, you see danger and your first thought is 'police', do you know how many police would need to walk the streets to avoid random attacks? The issue is not more police the issue is why does this society have people robbing others... like any society, but those issues of wealth will be left alone like they have been for hundreds of years because people are like drones repeating the same shit

@@ethanmartin1481 the police oath doesn't change the reality of why people attack, steal from others etc, knife crime offences - that were reported, reached over 15,000 last year, the idea that the police can stop all crime is a complete fallacy, you can pay them as much as you want, but if you step outside and a man wants to give you a good opening - he will, thats the point, so if it makes you "feel" safe because the police exist then go for it, everyone has the right to feel safe and protected? This makes me tear up because I was attacked at a train station once and no one helped me. That was the most traumatizing part. The fact that these people stepped in, and just comforted him by putting their hand on his shoulder and saying it's going to be okay makes a world of difference. He looks so traumatized and scared. I'm glad he wasn't alone. EDIT: Thank you everyone for so many nice comments. I really appreciate it. My situation was different than this one because it was obvious to me and was probably obvious to other people that the person who attacked me was mentally ill. They were not trying to rob me. They just started punching me in the head and calling me names. I didn't quite expect anyone to step in to stop it, but after it happened, the person just ran on the train while I stayed shocked and hurt at the station. It really would have helped and meant everything to me if someone just came up and asked if I was okay and called the police for me. I was really in a state of shock. I don't expect people to always help in the moment because I know it puts other's safety at risk as well. But if you are a bystander and you witness something similar, it means everything if you just go up to help the person, even if it's after the fact.
