Hi semua salam kenal saya anak melayu Singapura walaupun minority di sini (sekitar 13-15% ) kita masih berbahasa melayu masih berpegang pada agama Islam. Lagu kebangsaan dan military/drill commands memang dalam bahasa melayu sebagai simbolisme orang melayu itu diakui penduduk asal di SG. Walau begitu hakikatnya bahasa English itu boleh dikatakan bahasa utama rakyat SG yg sudah diajarkan sejak pertama masuk sekolah lagi dan menjadi lingua franca untuk kegiatan sehari-hari (contoh di sekolah, kerja)

As a Malaysian I used to sing the ''Majulah Singapura" back when I grew up & studied in my primary & Secondary school days. Age 15 I had to move back to my home country of Malaysia due to financial problems. Continuing study in Malaysia is kind a tough for me at that time as I need to comfort myself plus need to memorize "Negaraku" in school which is hard for me as I'm use to it 😅. But now I can sing both National Anthem & I'm proud to be a part of Singapore (1996-2005)

I used to go to a Singaporean school (kindergarten to p5) until I moved to Japan and joined an American school. Lost my accent and forgot the anthem that I sang every single day even though I didn’t have to. 4 years later I find this video and OH MY GOSH ITS SO NOSTALGIC. Ugh I remember being a prefect and raising the flag and thinking that it was the best duty to have and that everyone should be jealous of me. Once I got into trouble cuz my friend and I were fooling around when this was playing. Ahhhhh too nostalgic

In case u don't know in Singapore we have 4 commonly used language which are English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil but our according to the Constitution of Singapore, the single national language of Singapore is Malay which plays a symbolic role, as Malays are constitutionally recognized as the indigenous peoples of Singapore, and it is the government's duty to protect their language and heritage and English is the official main langguage to communicate and study except for Mother Tongue Subject. Furthermore, the switch to English as the only medium of instruction in schools aided in bridging the social distance between the various groups of ethnic language speakers in the country.

@@medhanarayan5726 it's not actually true.. it's actually sanskrit and all southeast asian country belongs to indosphere. And indonesian government named the far east city of indonesia as Jayapura which is already sanskrit already there. All southeast asian words and alphabets derived from sanskrit and never in tamil. The real name of Singapore is Singapura which derived from simhapura. Singa in malay means lion. The same with sanskrit (it's derived from there). Pura means city. If you learn malay, you know what singa means.

Dropped by Singapore for a few days on the way home from Saudi Arabia in '93, courtesy of the hub transit stop from Singapore Airlines. Changi was probably the only airport i've landed where they made announcements in 3 different languages (Chinese, Tamil & Malay) aside from English, though of course, i know why. Loved their cleanliness, efficiency and prosperity. Wish i could go back.🇵🇭

The anthem I firstly heard in 1970s through Singapore TV5.as a Malaysian Malay and perfectly fluent in the language,the lyricist has done superbly writing the lyrics of the anthem

I remember back in 2013, i was 6 years old. I wasn’t a Singapore Citizen, but rather a Permanent Resident. Every day, day in day out, my parents would search for this exact anthem on KZfaq on our TV. I was very patriotic back then, not really sure why.
