Woodleigh Mall - Singapore's new mall at Bidadari Town

Күн бұрынThe Woodleigh Mall is a new mall located at the city fringe in the heart of the new Bidadari town. It has 3 floors - a Basement and 2 Upper levels. A condominium - The Woodleigh Residences sits on top of it. This mall is air-conditioned and has lots of retail and dining options. Residents used to travel to Potong Pasir (Poiz) or Serangoon (Nex) to do their shopping, but there's no need now. The Basement level has a 24-hr Fairprice Finest Supermarket, lots of dining places and is connected directly to MRT and bus interchange. Level 1 has a bank, retail & dining, a Neighbourhood Police Centre and Bidadari Community Club. Level 2 has Child Enrichment Centres, Medical Centres, Spas, Hari Salons and eateries. Level 2 also has a link bridge that connects to the future Bidadari Park and Alkaff Lake.

This is the area I grew up in from the 1960s thru 1982 before immigrating to the US. Lived at Youngberg Terrace which is now condos. Used to jog in the mornings at Bidadari cemetery, getting my haircut in Potong Pasir, and going to the shops and market at Third Mile. Even my Primary/Secondary SDA school is torn down. So many great memories.

Singapore is modernising too quickly and too aggressively. Nearly all your childhood memories are, well, memories... as those places don't exist any more. I am a little luckier than most people. I grew up at Chong Pang Village in Sembawang. The real Chong Pang is long gone, but my childhood playground, the ex-British Naval Base is still intact. Every road and building are still there, intact. I sometimes go there to walk down memory lane.

Nice walk tour, seems like lots of shops still not open yet, how I wish all the shops can open on the same day and everything already in order and no need for some area to be block off...think next few days will be very crowded as its the Newest Mall now...😓only free this week end to go check it out...😅 27:45

Yes, a lot of shops are not open yet, but the evening crowds are there already. Food Junction will open on May 13, so it will be even more crowded from tomorrow.

Woodleigh MRT was ready when Bidadari was still a big cemetery, oops! It was empty then. Anyways, Yishun and Bishan were built on cemetery land too.

Very nice mall and way better than Nex, speaking as someone who has lived in Sgoon Central for 14 years and still here. When the Bidadari Park and Alkaff Lake opens, the mall is gonna be so much nicer to go to, where you can relax at the park in the evening and enjoy the scenery, something Sgoon will never be able to offer.

Nex is big and has much more shops than Woodleigh. But Woodleigh has the advantage of the Park and Lake. Also, it looks like a new hawker centre, outside the mall, is coming up.

Paula, you are very observant. I didn't know about this new payment feature till you asked 😊. This scan&go is more advanced than the 'self check out'. This supermarket has this app. You check-in with your mobile phone when you enter the supermarket. Use your phone to scan each item that you are buying. Yes, though many of the stalls are same as in the malls, this is good for the residents as they don't have to travel far to do their shopping. I prefer to see different stalls and shops too 😀

Yes, this place was formerly the Bidadari Cemetery. Yishun and Bishan were once cemeteries too. Now they are bustling and active. Woodleigh will thrive as a new town as the location is good. Thanks for your comment ❤️

I subscribe to a Royalty-Free Music library. I pay to use their music pieces. The library that I use, charges reasonable rates. Most KZfaqrs and Content Creators use free music from KZfaq library. I can't make music. I can sing though. When I sing, people run away.

They are different. Sengkang Grand has open concept, hawker centre but no aircon. This has aircon, a bank and more eateries but no hawker centre. I think they are building hawker centre in the next building. Thanks for watching 🙏

True, most of the shops and stalls are same as in other malls. The child enrichment centres will be good for parents who can afford it. They don't have to travel far to Novena or Goldhill for places like The Learning Lab etc

I agree that MBS and Vivocity are well designed malls. These are very big malls and the architects can exercise their creativity to a great extend. Space is the main constraint for designing smaller malls. The new malls now incorporates a Community Club e.g. One Punggol, Sengkang Grand, North Point City and now, Woodleigh Mall.
