You can run the old Singers with a foot pedal if you haven't got the knee lever, as long as the plug fits! 👍

That metal plate on the one bent wood is a fix done in the past due to carrying it by the handle. That wood gets brittle over time as it dries out. I hope you get a coffin top lid for your machine. Those are the ones I like. I hope to get the slide out Singer 12 one soon. I have the singer 12 base but like your 28, no top.

Actually the metal plate is not a repair its original, the full size cases came this way because the machines wiegh more but they didn't use thicker wood so they added this plate , ive seen it on more then just the case i own , also the paint seems to match that era , you may be used to the 3/4 case im thinking but most 15 -91 i see have the plate , as for a coffin case ive never seen just a top for sale but if i dk if will be like winning the lotto lol , Singer 12 ? Im gojng to have to look thaf up , never seen one yet thanks now i got something to check out 👍

@@4486xxdawson The Singer 12 one is the first photo you showed. My full size bentwood case has no plate. I can send pictures and show original brochures. I have original manuals from 1859 and up, earlier than the Smithsonian Singer letter A ( Family transverse machine)

I wish someone had warned me about not using the handle to carry these machines! The catch on a different case gave way and the impact versus stone floor bent the needle bar! I shall try to fix it it but I was so upset I've not looked at it for years. Wish me luck.

What machine has the bent needle bar ? I may have one i can ship to ya to fix it , im thinking of starting a vintage singer scrap yard , i find machines real cheep and some are worth saving but some i plan to part out , im going to do a video on this soon but maybe i can help ya fix your machine ...i once got a machine that had a broken bed , same thing happened to the old owner , case latch gave and machine hit the ground hard enough to break the corner of the bed right off , ive never seen a singer broken like that ever , so that was my first parts machine .....good luck and just let me know if i can help , thanks for watching and commenting i appreciated it

Dawson great video, lots of great information. In the title put the Japanese model, someone might want to find your info on that one too. Keep inspiring.

The handle is only for removing the lid. If you look under the bottom, there should be a scalloped out scetion on both ends to lift the whole machine.

Yes thats the same as i tell people, i dont even like carrying my featherwieght by the handle , always feel the machine is safer carried by bottom , i value my toes lol ....thanks for watching
