This song is deeply personal for Matt. He wrote it about fall out with a mate where he was in the wrong. You can hear and feel his pain. Don’t think it’s a smile as much as a grimace.

Thanks for a great reaction Andrea. Matt Corby is such a unique artist, to the point he resisted signing with a record label and managed/produced his music himself so he could retain his material and direction. I'd really recommend delving into some more of his music, starting with a track called "Song for Interlude".........but watch the version from his Live on the Resolution Tour. I think you'll really enjoy his artistry! 🙏

Matt isn't copying anyone with his singing here its not a random vocal he's a classically trained singer, songwriter and musician. This is his own song. ❤

Fantastic song and performance. He gives it his all at the end...its a really personal song he wrote about something he did that he regrets. So when you described it as a cry for help you were not far off! Another great song of his it Trick of the Light, live on the Resolution tour..its brilliant.

Yes it’s hard to understand the song’s progression and approach without having some idea of the lyrics. I really like when reactors pull up the lyrics on their phone! Also the other video of this of course has Matt talking about the song at the start.

I was lucky enough meet Matt briefly and see him live before he really took off at The Cove in Melbourne. I was a hater due to me not liking how Australian Idol was cannibalising Australian Artists and robbing hard working current musicians of record deals. But I have to say even though it was long before he took off with this. I knew I was watching a generational talent like Jeff Buckley. He was only doing covers that night but he absolutely won me over with his talent and passsion

@@Jimsmith656pretty much with articles on the internet. I have heard though you shouldn’t always believe what’s written in the paper; so to speak . Can’t find if he said it but did say it was as a result of an argument with a mate over something stupid he did. People can infer what they want from that so who knows.
