It’s giving very uncultured!! I’m not Hispanic but I knew what most of these dishes were, I mean to each their own though. There was no personality or anything either, a very lukewarm video! She picked a cutie though🤷🏽‍♀️

omg the way i was screaming at whoever this girl is in the first one!! who has never had platanos (bananas?!) or mofongo?!?! i was like POUR THE SAUCE. I am Ecuadorian and even I know. and what latino wouldn't normally eat empanadas/pastelitos??? every country literally has their own version. god, west coast latinos really dont eat outside their own culture, jfc.

The Plate to Date series is so fun!! Please continue it! The dishes in this one looked so good! But I wish the guys had interacted more. And if the dish was described to the girl. It can be hard to properly appreciate a food if you don't know how to eat it (like how she didn't pour the broth over the mofongo) or how it should taste/be made.

Due to the heavy garlic, Mofongo is really hit or miss with non Puerto Ricans. Should of gone with Reyenos with arroz con gandules. Everyone loves those.

Probably just different frames of reference. The girl in the video said that she's Mexican American. Mofongo is not a Mexican dish. And like the other commenter said, Pero Like is in California. The Puerto Rican population there is way smaller than in New York.

Some people just aren't adventurous with the type of food or drink that they consume. Just because she's Mexican doesn't mean she's going to know all about different foods from Latin America. And that's okay.

As a Dominican from NY, pastelito & empanada are interchangeable.

For Salvadoreans, they're two different things. Pastelitos are made out of masa and usually have meat in them, served with curtido on the side. But empanadas are made out of platanos and have beans or leche inside with sugar sprinkled on top. Both are delicious but very different 😋
