Obscure song? You make me feel so old. Marty Robbins was a great singer/song writer and this was among his greats. I loved the original. I love that Geoff chose to do this. He did an amazing job.

Big Iron is one of the classic western songs. Not sure who did it first, but Marty Robbons was the one that made it into a classic.

The original song was written and recorded by Marty Robbins (first released on his album, Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs, in September 1959) and has been used in several video games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, and Fallout: New Vegas. The clone lineup is, from left to right: Goff, Jeff, Geoff, Jeoph, and Daryl. Geoff wrote a new chorus for this song, beginning with "Big Iron, he's a stranger that rode into town one day," and ending with "and he'll keep on rolling 'til his life is gone." He also created the "movie" you see in the background of the video.

Next to the technical things (vocal range, harmonizing, etc.) Geoff is one of the greatest story tellers with songs. That's btw. a point, I miss very often in modern music. The songs don't tell stories the way "songs from the earlier days" did. "Big Iron" was a good example as "Don't mess around with Jim" was the last time. Even when (especially) country songs frequently have a "folk song vibe" (in Germany these kind of songs are called "Schlager", inviting listeners to clap along on 1-and-3.. 😄)

Awesome vocals. I had never heard this song before, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was based on a movie or a movie was based on this song.
