John and Olivia were great friends for more than 40 years.

John is married to the love of his life, he did ask permission before the kiss. Olivia (RIP) and John were such great friends. As he said during an earlier interview; "I'm married, not dead" when he was appreciating beautiful women. Yes, and such a gentleman; turning his head before he belts out some high notes; I imagine he would blow your ear drums out being so close if not careful. Pure talent and entertainment from both of them.

This is the most beautiful and romantic duet of all time. The knew each other since they were teenagers, and DID love each other, although they were never together. John was the last person Livvie spoke to before she passed and he was devastated when she died. You should read his public statement when she passed.

Livvy and John started out together at 16 and 17. John’s wife Jilly was also a good friend and she gave John permission to kiss Livvy in this song for the 3 months the Main Event Concert toured. There was never a romance but they were close, both kind and caring people. John was the last person Livvy spoke to on the phone before she passed with her family by her. Then his wife had to put him back together again. Livvy always came home to Australia when she was needed. She built the Cancer Wellness Centre in Melbourne and she did the annual walk to keep funding. Now her daughter is doing it with her niece. She also allowed people with cancer to come to her property here to stay at her retreat. John does many things the same for anyone who needs him. The main Event Concert also starred Anthony Warlow who is our main musical theatre star and Opera trained. Anthony just came through some really rough cancer treatment. Livvy and John were getting him back out there because that is who they are. If you want funny try John singing Opera with Anthony in this concert. The song is Granada. Thank you.

Having said that they have actually been very close freinds since they were teens in the 60's, but have never dated. John has been married to the love of his life Jill since the early 70's. John and Olivia were such close friends and when performing together they really connected with each other and you could see the love and admiration they had for each other. John really showcases his range with this one, I think that note he hits towards the end was possibly even higher than Olivia, also remember John, and Olivia were quite a bit older here and especially John’s voice still sounds flawless. Such a beautiful song this one that John has performed solo, with other singers as a duet but I think this version is the best by far. Awesome reaction to the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time and our little princess Olivia. We in Australia were so lucky to have had these, and some other wonderful home grown singer for so long.

Ty for your reaction to 2 aussie legends, from a time when the word Legend meant something. They were the best friends for a very long time and the kiss was simply love from one dear friend to another. A song that John made famous and when the three of them did this series of shows John Olivia and another great singer Anthony Warlow (Phantom of The Opera Fame) John asked Olivia to do a duet of this great song. Thanks for this review, Andrea. Australian here - both John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John are Australian icons, especially for my generation (Boomers). I happen to be a fan of yours also, ever since you appeared on a few Dovydas videos.

Both ONJ and JF are more than just singers. ONJ has had major acting roles in several movies including playing Sandy in the highly successful movie "Grease". JF has been one of the main characters in several major stage productions including playing Jesus for the entire season of the Australian stage production of "Jesus Christ Superstar". This pair have certainly earned their acting chops and it shows every time they perform either individually or as a duo act. They have also been friends and fellow performers in the same music industry, probably close friends, since their teenage years or early twenties.

This is similar to "Comic Conversation" by Farnham as well.

This is the best duet of all time

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but the main reason you never heard of John until youtube made his magic available to the world is that apart from a brief period touring as front man for Little River Band he decided that his wife and family was more important to him than international fame and fortune. John and Livvie (and John's wife Jill) were fast friends for decades. Their love was real, but not sexual. In the small circle that is the Australian entertainment industry, an affair between these two would have been all over the news, even when they were young. They are both talented performers as well as outstanding singers.

I love your voice. I personally prefer this song sung by John alone, but that is not to say that I don’t love this duet. It is just that when he does it solo you get some sneak peaks into some vocal acrobatics that he doesn’t get a chance to show off in the duet. Nonetheless both are lovely.

John and Olivia were friends and had performed especially in the later years together on stage and in recordings. John does have musical theatre experience and Olivia is an actress, so they know how to perform. But both also have the ability to convey such emotion when they sing. This performance was from the Main Event concerts featuring Olivia, John and Anthony Warlow (Australia’s Phantom). It was absolutely superb. This particular song was actually a hit for John but the duet with Olivia is actually better!

These two did another concert together later called Two Strong Hearts. Their duet of Two Strong Hearts is very fun! You should take a listen to that as well.

I was lucky enough to attend two of the shows for "The Main Event" in Sydney and my hometown of Newcastle here in Australia, the entire show is a masterclass in performance for anyone to view. Thank goodness the entire concert was captured so beautifully on film. The CD, released in 1998, was a huge success and reached #1 on the Australian charts and has since gone 5 x Platinum and won the ARIA award for the highest selling album of the year, a VHS video of the concert was released in 1999 and the DVD released in 2001 with Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 sound clocking in at 159min. If you get a chance to watch it, I can highly recommend checking it out!

You would probably really enjoy watching John and Ray Charles sing and play off each other doing a random and unscripted rendition of Lennon's song Imagine. Ray was having trouble with his ear piece so the two decided to randomly sing an easy ab-lib version of Imagine to keep the crowd entertained while the sound crew fixed the ear piece.

olivia has sucess as a country artist in v usa after leavn au, u prob know vis, ven ventured into mainstream music pop, n acting, she was in grease n sung sme hits frm that movie, such a wonderful person, she had a lot of suffering in her life n yet remained an angel, sad whn she died.

This song was originally written for John, but they turned it into as duet for this series of concerts. BTW John has been very happily married for more than 50 years, but lots of men had crushes on Olivia, and he was no exception ☺️

Both are married or in committed relationships.... this is a story about how they love and respect each other, may even be attracted to each other.... but can never act on those feelings... because of the love and respect they have for their partners...... we have all been there if we've lived long enough...... x
