God bless you!!! My pretty darn new singer quantum stylist 9960 stopped feeding fabric a few days ago.. When I went to clean it out and just look to see if I could See a problem, i did notice that little nut thingy was loose!! I tried tightening and loosening it then trying to sell that did nothing!!! SO thank you SO MUCH, I didn't know you could tighten the white part so thank you so much I do not have the money to take it in for an expensive repair or even a cleaning and oily!! I have to do all that myself, wish is scary, but so far so GOOD God bless you, you save my life and my sewing machine. Lol. My Singer Curvy's feed dog control knob is broken off. Somehow, while sewing, the feed dogs dropped on their own. It took me ten tools, a hole in one finger, and some wrestling a heavy machine and I got the feed dogs lifted back up again. But, that little plastic screw, inside of the nut, is VERY hard for me to adjust. That's how I tore my finger open, trying. It was shoving a screw driver inside the little back panel, where the knob should be, that popped the feed dogs back up. Then I discovered that they were too high up (they were going in a square motion) so I adjusted it again and I got it just right. Without your video I would have never figured this out. Thanks very much!

I thank you very much! I have the same machine and couldn't figure out what was wrong. I know now I caused the problem by digging thread knots out of my feed dog because of a fluffy snuggie I was making out of a fleece blanket. After digging out fuzz and knotted thread a few times my feed dog quit working. The fix wasn't easy for me as I unscrewed the nut too much and dropped in and then had to retrieve by a magnet too many times. I closed the machine up and guess what? it works , even without the nut. I'm sure I'll have to get it on eventually but I am thrilled to have my feed dogs working again. It's touchy getting things adjusted just right, but I finally did it. On another machine I had to take it to the shop to fix the feed dogs and found out there was a screw that had fallen down in it. Thank very much for your video!

I just wanted to say Thank you so much. My Confidence Quilter had this problem and the factory authorized repair people couldn't fix it. Singer could only suggest I didn't know how to operate my machine. Your 3 minute video was the fix! It looks a little different but basically just adjusting the nylon bushing is all it took. You are my hero!

Thank you for a simple solution! My new machine was delivered today, model #9960, I'm very disappointed in the quality. I had to adjust the plastic case as it wasn't fit together correctly. Then as I was going thru the basics I lowered the feed dogs. Nothing happens when I move the switch to rise the feed dogs.

Great video and explanation of the problem. I just resolved on my wife's machine that was similar except it had a slotted head rather than allen key for plastic screw. I faked my way through it before seeing your video, but you helped me ensure that it's really fixed. You might note that lifting the other side of the "feed dog" mechanism makes the plastic screw and locking nut easier to adjust.

Just to let you know, it is not a good idea to use compressed air in the bobbin area it can cause the dust to go deeper. You explained everything very well.

thank you so much! this helped me with feeddogs that would would not lift up. i loosened the nut a 1/4 turn and i was able to move them up and down! yaa. from another helpful you tuber, i was able to see that the used machine(a futura xl400) had a bum bobbin case. so between the 2 of you i got my gorgeous machine working perfectly. i even fixed the needle threader so it works. i can't believe all the help that is on you tube. you and the others are amazing to take the time to help others. THANK YOU!!!

Awesome! I'm going to fix a machine that has been "fixed" once before and is doing the same things again and this seems to be the issue. Compressed air isn't really a good idea, works in a pinch of you don't have anything else, but an eyelash brush is better to clean out dirt, dust, and threads. The air just really moves it around, and if you've ever taken the whole machine apart you'll know what I mean. There is dirt in places you didn't even know could get there!

Much obliged! Although I’ve only done a small test so far I noticed improved feeding! When cleaning the dust and lint out, my personal preference is to use the included brush and/or Q-Tips, with a vacuum cleaner (smallest attachment you’ve got) in lieu of compressed air

Well this video kinda helped .. basically my feeder feet thingy didnt move fabric back as it should but when i opened to see whats under the hood . It had none of the things it was supposed to from the video however i noticed that without the htread attached it worked just fine so i adjusted my thread tention on bottom bobbin and it sews great now :DD leaving this just incase someone has same problem and actual problem is not the feeder but tension messing up your feeder.

Thanks my youngest daughter and I are sewing this season and she constantly gets my feed dogs messed up. I usually go pay 65 dollars for the sewing store to fix it but this is exactly how my brother looks so I am going to try this fix!

in my case, the feed dogs were worn out. i wasn't aware this was a part that needs to be replaced every 1-2 years. it feeds, but not well, i usually have to help the fabric along. (singer 2277). i realized this when i got a brother se600 and the feed dogs were actually grabbing the fabric correctly, especially in reverse. the singer didn't do that at all. $10 fix.

Thanks! I have a Singer Quantum Stylistand it works like a charm. I have an issue with the feed dogs of a vintage electrosonic, it drags the fabric by times then it stops moving and then start dragging it again. I'll have to see if it has a similar screw that I can tight.

Nice catch... Not actually the feed dog height adjustment but very handy to know before fooling with the adjustment cam when it might not need adjustment. I have to say that I've been disappointed with some of the parts Singer is making out of plastic these days.

I recently bought a M1000 Model and the dog material feeder was made of plastic and it cracked after 2 weeks of use. The bad news was Singer does not even list the part !

Thanks a bunch, Rich! My wife just got this machine for Christmas, and as I was playing with the settings, this issue happened. Fortunately I ran across your video before I had completely torn apart the machine (I only had it half-torn apart!). So tonight you saved a sewing machine and a marriage :-P I did notice that the feed dogs don't lower correctly on my machine now, they're basically locked in the upright position no matter what. It seems like my issue may have to do with the switch's lever-action being either broken or defective. Does that sound like the problem you encountered?

My feed dog button no longer returns the feed dog from free sewing back to feed dog sewing. I have to flip it back with a screw driver. I followed your suggestion and removed some thread that was caught but that did not correct the situation. The plastic thing appears to be in a different position and I could not get to it with my allen wrench which is straight and not bent like yours. Any thoughts?

Hello! Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 does not cut off the upper thread. The hook cling, but does not hold out the upper thread to the knife. What could be the problem? I can to send a photo on email.

or it can be called a throat plate but the manual for this machine says needle plate.

I was so happy to see your video. After I watched it I went to my Singer machine to look for the the the screw behind the feed dogs but there is nothing there on my machine. Do you have any ideas on other places this adjustment could be located.
