This song is one of the reasons we call her the Goddess Voice of Nature. She was created by the Gods and given to Mother Earth to bring joy to the world. She does this time and time again.

Diana Ankudinova's ability to interpret lyrics through music is unmatched. There are those who can do it, but not with her imagination, and certainly not with her grasp of emotions. And to sing in a four octave range as a dramatic contralto is unheard of. It is no wonder the world of opera has treasured her for years. Yet her preference, as she recently said, is folk music. This cover is a perfect example of how she understands the poet's words as well as the composer's theme, even in a language which she does not speak. It is no wonder that Brandon Stone writes so much music for her. I have wondered this past year whether the Russia-Ukraine war has kept her from being able to collaborate with Igor Krutoy. Anyway, thanks for your reaction. Allow me to suggest you step even another year back to look at her performances in the first year she participated in the "You Are Super" national competition for teenagers who had been without parental care (a.k.a. orphans) for a significant time in their lives. Check out Crow or Human, Derniere Danse, It's Not Yet Evening, or Take On Me (Stepin arrainged this also...it's the pandemic lockdown version filmed from her apartment in Moscow). Stepin really, really understand how to use her deep, dark, powerful voice. Frankly there are dozens of impressive songs. Enjoyed it.

As you hear more of her performances you will slowly realise that this is still the tip of the iceberg of her vocal talents! After 8 years of following this vocal phenomenon, she still surprises and confounds me, regularly! Interesting fact - When this song was allocated to Diana to perform, she really didn't understand the song at all!
