This new video from ‪@jonlow‬ captured the highlights of that amazing gathering!
On September 18, 2022, something momentous happened to me. Not only did I get to meet and spend time with my idol #SheilaMajid, she also told me she wanted to hear me sing. And I did. Singing song in front of other fans, and most surreally, in front of Sheila herself. And did I mention ‪@jennychinOC‬ and ‪@macchewful‬ were also there listening!!!
As if that is not enough of a mind-blowing moment for me personally, Sheila's reaction to my singing really touched me. And yes I cried. We cried.
It is just now slowly sinking in. I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life.
Thanks to my friend ‪@jonlow‬ who captured this moment perfectly and beautifully. He also stayed up late editing this piece for me before a work trip today. You'll see my giddiness all the way through the song because I can see Sheila's reaction right in front of my eyes and I was trying to process the fact that I'm singing for Sheila!!! Thanks to ‪@veelium‬ for generously playing for me and for sharing your talent with me and the world.
But endure the giddiness, and stay until the end for Sheila's reaction and response. That warmed my heart and my soul.
NOTE: Sheila MaJohn was my high school nickname because I used to sing so many of her songs!

Thank you Shen Vee for being a part of this memorable moment for me. We’re discussing in Clubhouse last weekend on how we both delivered our parts slightly differently compared to the first time we did it. There seemed to be more build and energy in the version where Sheila was there. And all I knew about my singing was I did it directly to her. It was a special moment! Thanks for making it happen with me!

Thank you so much. Me singing in front of her was totally unplanned. I have already done singing the song before she arrived. If she didn’t tell me that she wanted to hear me sing, I’d not have had the chance! Still so unreal to me. And yes indeed, Kak Sheila was such an amazing soul, so generous with her time. And also extremely kind to us fans.

Thank you for your comment. I’m this lucky guy who get to sing her hit in front of her! The English version is also hers. It’s one of the first songs that I was introduced to Sheila Majid. So it meant a lot to me that I get to include the English version into my rendition. Glad you appreciate it too!

Thank you so much. I’m one of the many fans of the amazing and legendary Sheila Majid. Having the opportunity to sing her song for her is way beyond my dream coming true. Miraculously, I didn’t feel stressed or pressured, rather I was giddy and felt lucky having that opportunity. I only focused on bringing her song to life through my own interpretation. Glad you enjoyed it!

Hi Tiff. Thank you so much. I was more giddy and excited that I’m in the same room as Sheila. I really didn’t think too much about the pressure of singing her song. At least not until much later! If I had more time to think about it, I’d totally be freaking out. Here’s the thing, I didn’t plan on singing the song while she was there. Since we named the event “September Shares” since it was held in September, that was our opening song for the event. But when Sheila came, she asked me to sing it again. I didn’t have time to think too much!! LOL. It’s still surreal to me now.

If I waited for another 1-2 minutes, I’d probably decline singing in front of her. Like you said, singing in front of the original singer of one of her most popular songs!
