That was most crazy thing I've heard about singing.. if someone can sing great in one song, they do have the ability to sing. Or did we just heard something made up?

right, there's a big difference in "immitating" someone's voice from your favorite songs and in finding your own singin' voice

This couldn't be more true. All the TV talent shows have made people think that singing karaoke and mimicking someone else's vocals is a talent worthy of a career, but while it's nice to hear someone sing mimicking someone else isn't on the same level and isn't enough to impress millions of people. I know a few people who can sing, but they only sing other people's songs, there's no meaning in it, no emotion, it's just duplication. People should strive to become an original, not a copycat.

@@Denzamusic A printer can produce an almost perfect duplicate of a Van Gogh painting, that doesn't make the printer an artist. Having the technical skill to mimic a voice and place inflection at all the right moments doesn't make someone a talented singer, it makes them a skilled copyist. if they can then transfer that vocal skill to something original, with meaning, and with beauty, that's what makes them a singer.

@@Denzamusic I thought the same thing. But when the music industry, in Nashville told me this, and other singers told me the same thing, it makes sense. Anyone can parrot a famous song, in the way that the famous singer sings it. But it's a whole different thing, when you have your own style of vocals and singing. Write your own song, or select an old song, but only the lyrics, and sing it without hearing how it was sung back then. Only then will you understand why the music industry looks for originality, and not mimicking.

Talent is mimicking. Talent is originality. Just because a printer can make a perfect duplicate of a famous piece of art, doesn't make the printer an artist. It makes it a duplication.
