I dated a woman for several years. Was with her when she started college and gave her my spare key to my house. Later on, we discovered that she had a debilitating health issue for the rest of her life. I stuck with her and gave my support the entire time. When she graduated and started making more money than I, she bought her own condo but never gave me a spare key. She gradually turned to her best friend for support on her health issue. In the middle of this, I also discovered that I had health issues, and that's when I realized why she went to her best friend for support on hers. She was preparing to break up with me because I believed that she did not want to support me with mine. So, I was making less than her, no spare house key for me, and had a major health setback. I came to the conclusion that she wanted to "date up" and probably cheated on me before the unofficial breakup.

As a woman myself, I find it absolutely crazy that women have such strong financial goals for themselves but yet expect their partner to reach their equivalent or more but refuse to be the breadwinner of the relationship. Tit for tat at the end of the day! If I could earn more money then my partner then that would mean I could finally release him of his financial burdens a little and be able to treat him as well as he has treated me. I've always paid my way and no matter how much money I have or don't have, that's what I should do. Some women today are insanely uninformed about finances.

Does no one date to find love anymore? Something I just thought of, is what Preach said in a video once. He said at some point his wife was making more money than him and supporting them financially until he found his footing financially. Bringing it up because this whole bullshit about “dating down” means nothing. Peoples financial statuses are constantly changing, women shouldn’t focus on money so much, focus on what kind of man he is because eventually he could be making more than you and you could miss out on something great because you’re too busy looking at what’s currently in his bank account. Something to think about. Edit: Clearly from the comments my comment went right above some peoples head so let me get into details (yes I have time 🤣) what I was trying to explain was that at some point Preach is wife was making more than him, imagine if she had that mind set and decided not to marry him because of that simply fact, she would have missed out on a good marriage (now I don’t know them personally, so I don’t no the ins and outs of their marriage but they’re still married and seem to be doing well) and look how well he is currently doing. Financial status is constantly changing, you could have a great job and shit could change, redundancy, illness, Covid, promotions, a new and better job & the list goes on. So with that being said women, people in general shouldn’t focus too much on what’s in someone’s bank account because it could change, for the better or for the worse (we always hope better) and focus more on the person, there attributes, values, goals, etc. Invest and commit to a person that will treat you well and is good to you (I’m NOT talking about materialistic things), your values align, etc and your relationship will grow & flourish. That is all ✌🏾

Can't agree with Aba enough. When we started dating, my GF made about 30% more money than I did. 2 years down the road, I get a great job offer, and now I make almost twice as much as her. I pay most of the bills, but she still works(remotely), but spends more time now cooking, cleaning, and just helping make sure I can get through my work week(I work 14-hour days). Heck, she often goes out of her way to spend her money making sure I have good clothes/gear for the seasons since I work outside, and stuff to decorate the house that I LIKE. Love her like hell, and view her as an equal partner as a result.

As a man who has tried dating as both a low income earner and a high income income earner. I can attest. Low income = desperate and dateless, high meant I had many many more options. I didn’t get any smarter, more charismatic, better looking, funnier, more confident or taller. I have even asked many of my dates and even my current wife. Would you have gone out with me if I wasn’t earning what I am. Some don’t like that question but with some coaxing will all admit it. The financial security was a big draw card. As much as women say they want to be independent… they all want to be looked after by their man.

Now that roles are switching and women are making more, it’s MY money(the woman’s). So revolted by the idea of supporting someone else financially, that they call it dating down. Its all expectations and me me me. Common human decency is lost to so many people but its systematic and advocated for anf accepted by women. Its even touted as some personal virtue. You are a goddess and its your right, its your duty to all women and yourself to demand, !demand! men ( your men, the rest are thirsty, grapy, slaves for validation and food and simp orbiter duties.) are 110% perfect. Dont date ugly guys. Dont date broke boys, don’t accept small d energy! You Are inflTing guys abd thus doing a diservice to women as a general by not putting them in their grovelling place. For men its generally seen as a vice, immoral, destructive and dangerous. Not saying guys don’t do it, but its not deemed acceptable. By society or even other men mostly ( though I have to say the message in the manosphere for men to have standards for themselves and not allow themselves to be walked over or be mistreated by a woman or anyone, I find is a good one) The apparent intrinsic desire for strong masculinity in a strong female world has manifested in the most absurd expressions. Women seemingly begging to be mistreated as some valueless piece of meat. Only an exceptionally high value guy would not see her as some goddess so if he pays her no attention, if he treats her like some sort of inflatable ragdoll in bed, if he doesn’t really care about her, those must be signs of his value, a.k.a. why that dismissive bad boy Chad is having a field day out here. The general desire to be actually violently mistreated in the bedroom is a matter of mystery to me but if you look at any female romance novel (The female equivalent to porn) like Fifty Shades of Grey you will see this common through thread of Domination especially in the bedroom. Though there are some exceptions like the Notebook from nicholas sparks *Which makes me wonder how do you approach this bad boy and physical violence in the bedroom narrative with your daughter?* Especially the physical violence in the bedroom part has me all sorts of fascinated And worried, because if I like somebody I don’t really feel like full on punching them in the face. Its krass to me to be shamed for this a being vanilla or boring or an outright *ussy! Combined with the amount of clips I have seen of women praising and requesting being actually punched or slapped or choked It has me like 😵‍💫😵😵‍💫

My Mom had a High School diploma. She came to the U.S. mainland from Puerto Rico during the depression and had to work in a sweat shop. My Dad had to drop out of school after the eighth grade. He went to work in the sugar cane fields to help his widowed Mom and five siblings. They met in N.Y.C. at a party for soldiers returning from WW11. My Dad looked sharp in a uniform and they married. Although some of my Mom's relatives looked down on him they carried on. My Dad worked as a janitor for the post office. Such provided many benefits, including paid medical and sick leave and paid vacations. Her sister was working her way through college. She married a struggling student. My Dad loaned him money so he could continue his education. He ultimately became a dentist and gave us free dental care. My Dad retired debt free and bought his retirement home in Florida cash. They stayed married for over 60 years. I was blessed to come from a heritage of folk who valued character over a paycheck.

I never understood why "dating down" is such a horrible thing. When I met my man over 15 years ago, he was working a part time job at a factory and did some odd jobs for friends. I was just out of college and had a good job in a laboratory, making more than twice what he was. Money never mattered. Neither of us are big spenders or materialistic. We spent our time at each other's house, going to house parties and the occasional bar, and driving around exploring backroads or walking in the woods. Why would I automatically write off and ignore/look down on someone who makes less than me if we mesh so well together? Why would I give up on what could be (and in our case, is) true love because I think I deserve a guy who makes 7 figures? It's disgusting and will lead these women to nothing but a life of loneliness and unfulfilled expectations. And guess what? Many years later, after busting his ass every day, my guy has a great job doing construction and ranch work with some consulting on the side, making damn good money. When his work hits a slow point, my job picks up the slack. And we still don't give a damn about it. There are plenty of men out there just like mine: hardworking, genuinely good people, who were/are just starting out. And all these women will miss out on all the good they can bring to their lives because of something so superficial. Wow, so many hateful people here. I was simply telling a story that related to the contents of the video. I never thought my guy was beneath me, hence why I fell in love with him even when he was earning less. The note about him now making more money wasn't a brag, but stating that women who overlook lower-earning men who are perfect for them could miss out on a future high-earning man. Money isn't anything, and the fact so many people think all women look for in life is money is disturbing. Get off the internet and meet a real woman who doesn't live on TikTok.

Its even guys who would flash brand shoes just to make their friends jelious. You sir got a very narrow view, and are clearly biased against women. Now in terms of dating standards yes "modern" feminism has created this weird inbetween of i want to be equal but i dont that many modern ladies adapt. But this need for cloud you see in booth sexes. Modern rap pop etc. has lyrics full of making money living good planting false realities in peoples heads. Its no longer a form of art if that is the message you throw out there. "Look what i got and i shoot all who oppose me". Fam thats where that shit starts. All of social media full of faje ppl posing with expensive stuff making them wish to have it too, travel vlogs of paradisic places. Makes them wabt to travel and so on. If you only date up, it's not so hard to realize that other women do too, and that you're all competing for the top sliver of men, especially as you advance in your careers and what is considered "up" becomes more narrow. The biggest problem is the hubris of us women, because we think those top men should all be interested in us, above those other women, and we are hurt and enraged when they're not.

When you have a good job and look as attractive as she does it’s less likely that her standards are too high but more likely that her attitude is trash. There’s had to have been people that met her standards, but because they do meet those standards they have other options and don’t need to put up with an attitude like that. Judging by her reaction to what they had to say, I can only imagine how exhausting it must be to deal with a “my way or the highway” kind of person for a long period of time

Not necessarily. If there's not a huge difference in income, dating a man that makes less than you is possible. As long as he doesn't have any hang ups about it. Finances are a part of marriage, it's immature to believe otherwise. Even if these women didn't accomplish anything, it still wouldn't change the divorce rate. Which was high (initiated by men) long before women started initiating them more often. Character and finances matter. All people place value in accomplishments. Wanting someone with good character that is goal-oriented and shares the same values as you do is not unrealistic. Especially if you don't limit yourself to one race. Even good people with right character can be incompatible. Understand feminism alone is not the only factor that contributes to partnership issues.
