Great interview Mike. He is an interesting guy and it was refreshing to see someone who has settled in the Philippines without needing to find a girlfriend immediately. I also wanted to tell you that you do a great interview. Your demeanor is great and you ask pertinent questions and you give your guest plenty of time to give their answers. I really enjoy your channel. P. S., Janet is a great “wingman “😊

my hat is off to Dave. he's doing exactly what I want to do. find a nice place just like what he has, get my cat, and enjoy life. I love what he did to the front yard, rocks are the way to go for us old expats. that bbq is a killer, love it. Janet did a great job videoing without a tripod. I hope to find a place just like this one when I get there. and the rent, awesome.

I can relate to Dave, a single guy, divorced too living in the Philippines. I've been retired for about 13 yrs and my decision is to live here in the Philippines. The Great thing about it is I live very close to my Mom. I can tell you that it is such a blessing to live with someone you adore and love so much, especially from the hands who raised me. My Dad passed away in 2005. So I made that promise to my Dad, that after I retire from the service, I'd come home to the Philippines and take good care of Mom, we're close neighbors living two blocks away from each other. I plan to apply for the SRRV soon, that way I don't have to leave the country every 3yrs/36mos. Thanks Mike, great interview, you sure wasn't in no hurry after all his reply to your questions. I sure enjoyed this vlog of yours, glad I became one of your subscribers. Dave is such a cool guy and very thorough. Stay safe.3

Nice interview and interior views, very nice guy. I just wish I had been able to see more of the improved exterior in the first half of the video rather than just you two guys talking. We can listen while seeing different views if the audio allows. The outside surroundings and views are an important part of a place. And we only saw a side view of the grill and rotisserie so it was hard to appreciate what he did there. Just some feedback, appreciate the effort to share by all of you! It helps us to know costs and what places are like. Very Nice!

I use moneygram or remitly or other services online to transfer money from my bank abroad to local banks or Philippine remittances so that i dont have to use my card whenever im in the Philippines. Hi David. I’m Canadian living in Japan and am considering moving to the PHs with my cats. I heard you mention you have a cat and 2 landlords mentioned they didn’t want cats in their house. I never expected landlords would care about having pets. Glad you eventually found a place where pets are accepted. How much of a problem was that? Also, have you found it safe to let your cats outside in the yard there? My impression is, many places have fenced compounds, so I expect these can help your cat keep safe. Any tips on bringing cats to the PHs? Thanks!

@@roberth3094 the locals are being forced out of their homeland. A lot of local Hawaiians regret not choosing total independence. Now they have are being forced out of their only home and having to create a new colony in Las Vegas. It is like the native Americans losing their land on the mainland to the White man. Lots of Californias who earned large salaries are moving to Hawaii with their large retirement incomes. The cost of living in Hawaii with almost $10 for a gallon of milk is affordable to rich Americans moving from the mainland. A $30k house in Alabama costs $1 million in Hawaii. But who wants to live in a backwards State like Alabama. I wish I could live in Hawaii but I can't even afford to go on vacation there.

I truly hope he doesn't rush into another relationship. Especially with a big age gap. And particularly do not take her to the States. The lure of big money, a younger man, a green card and being able to get half his assets is just too irresistible. Many play the long game. He seems a lovely guy but perhaps a little soft and he could be taken advantage of. I wish him all the best, but hope he doesn't meet anyone who may take advantage anytime soon.

Choosing career over family, and dancing with friends over wanting to be home with the man who helped create so many opportunities for you... sounds a lot like Westernization to me. I'm sure there are a lot of contributing factors... but I personally will not be interested in dating a filipina that desires to live in another country.

A VPN (virtual private network) is the easiest and most effective way you can protect your internet traffic and identity online. When you connect to the VPN server your internet traffic goes through an encrypted tunnel that no one can see into. It hides your real IP address from your device when your connected to the internet with a VPN. I was hacked once and they got into my phone, computer, router and TV. My IP address was showing up in four states and Mexico and all my traffic was on the internet was being monitored from computers in these locations. I highly recommend getting one it doesn't cost a lot. I use express VPN and had it over a year now with no issues. It's world wide and I have used it in Mexico when traveling.

You can get the same sites as the US (or where ever you set it to. Can't get things like Hulu here in Thailand without a VPN.
