Single Point vs Two Point Sling for SHOTGUN???

Being new to shotgun ownership, I have been practicing in various range sessions. Part of which is carrying my firearm. But the two point sling has not been the most comfortable, nor the most consistent for me. In this video I convert my Mossberg 590 Thunder Ranch to a single point sling option. With a side mount on my receiver, and a nice bungee sling, this has gone from impractical to perfectly tactical.

I loved the video, I wish you would’ve shown a little bit of all the slings, mounted & strapped around your neck & shoulder. Mostly to see the difference, how it looks, how it carrys. Also would’ve loved for you to try out the suppression sling with the bungee around the latch. Other than that great video & subbed. Maybe an update video on this?

I carried my M-16A4 with a single point sling and loved it. Not a perfect solution but does most things day to day pretty well and comfortably with the ability to react quickly. Never been much of a fan of two point slings. Fine for deer hunting but a little slower to get into action quickly. Gonna put a one point on my Beretta Optima Patrol shotgun.

Modern slings are not about shouldering your weapon like a civil war soldier. It is about finding a tactical carry position which enables carry and tactical application of your weapon while in a tactical carry orientation. But you’ve drilled holes in your expensive shotgun now so enjoy what you have. Did you consider contacting Thunder Ranch on their recommendation? If I bought that shotgun that is one of the things I would’ve done.

I love my Magpul MS4 gen2 it’s a single/ two point QD quick release sling . QD connection hardware cost as much as the sling but to me it’s worth it . Something to keep in mind is having the option of single or two point on the fly is very practical when you are on the move and have to scale a wall or fence etc , sometimes that two point is crucial . I’m going to order an 18.5 “ barrel for my Remington 870 then I will install a sling on it , as it is now my 870 has its original mod. Choke 28” barrel and it’s like carrying a long ass 2”x 4” around 😝 Fun videos, thanks for sharing! ✌️🇺🇸

I have been experimenting with QD attachment and 2 point connection on my 10/22 Rifle. After getting that dialed in I feel a little better about going 2 point on my shotgun. I will probably experiment with that some more. Thanks for the comments and the viewership!

Single point for me on my 500A. Had a 2 point setup that was comfortable but was running some quick draw style drills and actually shot the sling in half as the front mount (on the mag tube) is same length as barrel. Just wanted to share that for those with a barrel/mag tube of equal length. Scabbard is likely my next move to free up hands.

Right on. Most of the millennials on firearm KZfaq have a dumb bias against shotguns for home defense, rarely considering the numerous reasons you wouldn't want to be shooting 5.56 in your own home (over-penetration, anyone?) I'll stick with a proven home defense weapon that Americans have relied on for hundreds of years.

You can run a two point across your chest like you wanted by mounting the rear of the sling to the top corner (heel) of the stock. You just have to drill a transverse hole through the stock at the heel and tie a loop of paracord there to mount the sling. The front sling mount is fine as is. I do this with every shotgun.
@OuterLimitless2
@OuterLimitless2 2 жыл бұрын

That’s a good idea. Easy as can be. I got a deputy trade in 870. Want to keep it inexpensive. Found a 6” led light with a tail cap button I’ve had from a while back. Had some zip ties a guy that I know that works on the railroad gave me. A little over a half inch wide. Real long. I don’t know what they use them for but they look heavy duty. That flashlight with two zip ties and two small pieces of 3M double sided tape. Gray puffy with red backer. That’s heavy duty stuff too. Good for outdoors or whatever. Used it just to keep everything in place and no chattering or anything.worked great. Went camping Easter Weekend. Put the gun in my canoe on Santee lake in South Carolina. Wanted to tie it on to the boat just in case. Already have A single strand para cord sling. Accidentally. It wouldn’t be comfortable to use for a long time. And that wasn’t the intention. It just wound up that way. Brought it in the house to give it a good wipe down after the camping trip and realized I had it slung comfortably, by accident. Simply had my hands full. I may make a sling. I like DIY stuff but those bungee ones are cool. Haven’t looked yet but thanks for the simple Suggestion of drilling a hole. It’s easy to over complicate things sometimes. Have a good one

PS. Wasn’t in the market for a shotgun of any kind. I’ve never owned a pump shotgun and the price was too hard to pass up. Was standing there when they came to trade a half dozen for a half dozen new ones. Took it as a sign. I have some really skanky corroded aluminum low brass shells I found in a shed. Cleaning it out for my sister. Mice or squirrels or something had eaten all the boxes away to nothing. They were stacked like they were in boxes but they were no boxes. Anyhow I raked them into a old cooler and a duffel bag that was mouse chewed also and put them in the back of the truck and into my shed. I keep the mouse killing cubes in the corners in the little plastic boxes so no problems. Anyhow tried to get the gun to malfunction with the shells. I shot until I bruised my shoulder. Removed quite a few dead pine limbs too.

A two point sling, you can wrap the sling around your off hand and put your hand back on the fore end, now you have more stability while aiming besides being able to take your hands off of it if you* should need to.

2 point is the only way to go on a shotgun. Get a side mount quick disconnect on the left barrel side and if you don't want to go with a magpul stock you can drill in the right-side of your stock and add a quick disconnect and run your sling over the stock, allows the gun to pull tight to your body without wanting to flip outwards.
@stevenm6489

That mount is not very good it’s going to wallow out the trigger pin whole on the receiver and also if you need to take your shotgun apart to clean it it’s gonna be lock tightened on no good
@MrMaharba101
@MrMaharba101 11 ай бұрын
Not the proper way of mounting a sling. I agree a pump gun needs a single point but not with a gimmick product. The swivel will work itself loose and that's the last thing you want when it's going through the action. Buy a Magpul single point attachment for a mossberg or remington. The hookup is less cumbersome.
