I had the privilege of seeing Zep perform this song at Madison Square Garden in June 1977. The entire show was a highlight but this song really stood out. It was magical.

saw these guys in 77 also. Cap Center in Maryland. Hands down all time best concert ever. $25 a ticket. Stage level seats on Jimmy's side.

@@MarkNeighbors-y8y I had backstage top level first row looking straight down onto the stage. $8.50 for the ticket. The concert tee was $3 and the tour book was $5. You can barely buy a beer now for that amount nowadays.

Jimmy just casually filling all the missing bass in, and the rhythm guitar, while he lets the bass player shine on the mandolin. It's like four melodies at once; amazing.

So glad I was a teenager during the pinnacle of this band... You will never. Experience a band this good again.This music these days are over... All four are master musicians this kind of art. Is once in a millennia.... ✌️ You should check out a live version of "babe.I'm gonna leave you",,,.Some argue the greatest live performance of all time...

The cameraman is obviously focused on Jimmy page. But Jimmy page is only playing a drone background guitar part. John Paul Jones is carrying the song on the mandolin.

I wish you'd listen to the original studio recordings first and then go on to the live concerts. The music is far more intricate with both Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones often playing multiple instruments that they cannot do on stage.

its a beautiful song, and 75 was roberts WORST year ever vocally! he had an operation in 73 and his voice was trashed for a while. its been getting better ever since though. he has lost that INSANE top end and power though
