@@pogz1 hi ! i am by no means an art professional, but i've been doing art for my entire life and am currently on my second year of being an art major. from what i can tell, you're doing great! i can tell that your forte is anatomy and bodies :) the only thing i would suggest is working on facial proportions and studying the structure of the human skull. as for individual features (such as eyes/lips/noses) try practicing them using basic shapes !! this was an exercise we had to do in uni and it's helped me a lot. best of of luck

@@Ianuarius It's basically every speedpainting "tutorial" video ever. The teacher talks about the fundamentals and then just says "So now on, it's just basic rendering..." and never really talk about what's the scope of the rendering they are doing or how they think or look at things while doing so. Also, when they skip the whole sketching and drawing phase and start with pre-made lineart. Like bruh, that's where the fundamentals-intermediate-master combine into the base of the entire thing, why u skip that?!?

Absolutely. Always learn from the best! Good thing I've always been telling to children who are taking their study seriously. "So you wanna learn English?" - then even if you think I'm a good teacher and adequate at it - learn the language from it's native users and you'll surely get better than me. I'm here only to show the way. You want to learn how to draw characters? There are not many good tutorials in Russian, and there are a lot of industry professionals who are sharing their experience with the world, but in English. So you'll get the best you can find in KZfaq (with subtitles ofc) and get much better at English without even trying to. Of course you'll need some base like grammar but that's why I'm here.. I love the process of creation, but the only thing I'm devoted completely in this world is teaching.. got a little bit carried away but you get the point :D Learning from people who are just a little bit better than you (because you think you'll never get better than them) is just wasting time and making extra stops on your neverending journey, isn't it?

15:06 it's so insane to me how something as simple as CROSS CONTOURING can make such a huge difference, yet it's never crossed my mind while I was actually painting (like DashieGames said, sometimes the easiest solution can be the last thing on your mind, lol). I've been studying digital painting since the start of 2021 and your videos have been a big contribution; I've since changed my direction to working on something more personal, but lessons I've learned (shape design, big-medium-small, and now blending direction) will no doubt help me be an even better artist. Thanks for doing what you do, Sinix 😁

God, I finally feel like I learned the proper vocabulary to express why I prefer the shading of some artist's work over others, and it's their use of shape design combined with their choices of shape economy (or intentional brush stroke) that separates "good" from "great". Thank you so much. ;-;

If not for this tutorial I would still be blending until everything becomes a muddy mess and that perpendicular form line is a game changer for me. I've watched countless tutorials, and I understand that a lot of artist can't teach and often times they just do what they do and that works for them. It's just sad that a lot of beginners and even intermediate artists will tend to pay a good amount of money for tutorials that doesn't even teach the basics, but rather is just a demonstration, often times with poor explanation of how they do things that will ofc vary from project to project. No shame to those artists, they just want to make a living and ik they're trying their best, I'm just looking out for all my fellow new artists out there.

In the first of this, moving to shapes was something I never had even thought about, and it makes sense now why working in 3D was easier for me than painting, because I never got caught up in the lines. You are also the first person to make blending actually make sense, to outline the fundamental principles as related to shape. Thank you for your tutorials.

THIS is the Color/Painting class I always wanted to attend to back in my Fine Arts Faculty. I‘m telling you, I did 4 years of a Bachelor‘s Degree in Fine Arts and all my color subject classes never explained the right steps to achieve that way of color shaping and simplification, how to add color ambience, etc. Most of my teachers told us to start painting X and afterwards, corrected us, which could have been useful if we had clear fundamentals and an understanding process previously taught to us. Many of them were just subjectively teaching about complex concepts from great masters (Velazquez, Rembrandt…) without explaining how to get there, how to prioritize on our first steps into the canvas, etc. I did a lot of trial/error and of course that taught me things, but having the right guidance definitely can speed that process and provide greater results. Super well done, thanks!

These are so refreshing! After watching dozens of digital painting videos over weeks, it's nice to hear someone calmly go over the basics without any hype. I find the vast majority of "painting tutorials" are either: A) Someone very talented painting with very little to no explanation of what they're doing. B) Someone very talented painting, but they focus on the steps and not on the theory. C) Someone with a level of talent or professional experience describing things totally peripheral to painting, such as how to land a job or motivate yourself to paint. Those can all be helpful in their own ways, but at the end of the day it's very much about the sort of core fundamentals you go over in these videos. I feel you apply similar skills to making videos as you do to painting; it's very often about saying less, not more, but making sure to say it very concisely.
