Great explore.. really surprised it hasn't been ransacked yet.. As for the boat itself, its been there since the mid 90's as the old Orleans bar and grille.. i went there many times around 97 and 98.. If memory serves me right, its not and never was a real paddle steamer.. but a barge/pontoon made to look like a steamer.. It was all the rage back in the 90's. The Thames around London used to have quite a few barges converted into bars or restaurants.. Now mostly gone.. I wouldn't be surprised if the cause of this one sinking is due to corrosion of the hull, to the extent its holed thus letting water in.. in all the years its been there, ive never know it to have been taken out of the water for inspection of its hull.. It surprised alot of people why M&C took it over..

It was there earlier than that - just a few months after the centre opened in 1990. And you’re right, it was never a real boat. It looked really impressive originally though. Shame it’s ended like this 😞

Great explore wanted to see what was the damage inside I can’t see Miller & Carter salvaging this restaurant will probably be too costly.. even scrapping it will be massive job. Keep up the great work 👍

Great video. Didn’t realise how big it is. Makes my M&C look tiny! Just so you know, the bell isn’t for last orders. It’s supposed to be rung every time a guest says they enjoyed their meal.

My wife and I had our first date there ! This is the second time it has sunk! Worse this time! It was called the old Orleans when first built! Then it sank then miller carter opened it ! It was a lovely place and we used it a lot

That has been there since the 90s, I use to work on there in the 90s, upstairs was a restaurant downstairs was a bar, the bar use be one best places to be in Essex on a Fri / Sat night, Was called old orleans back then and i have the best memories working on there, bar staff use dance on the bar, great days, sad see it full turn into a restaurant and of course sink

I think it being inside lakeside and all their cameras makes ransacking pretty unlikely. Surprised all that glassware is still standing.

Yeah before it was miller and carter it was old Orleans and I can remember that being there as far back as the 90s. Gonna be a mission and a half to fix/remove

I have used scuba gear and dived under it at night during the 90s. It is actually a dumb barge not a real boat. Water is not deep on that edge and I imagine it sat on the bottom when it sunk so the damage limited to lower parts

What a shame on how a Miller and Carter boat at Thurrock Lakeside capsized and it’s been left since it capsized. Is there any way of removing the boat and possibly move Miller and Carter inside Lakeside shopping centre.

Hope they fix it so popular and always very busy I was on it 5 days before it sunk wish had said something I sat downstairs at the back and felt a slope when went to the ladies toilet

It’s not even a real boat. It was designed to resemble a boat and and be able to float to adjust with the rising and falling level of the lake. And The Boat, as it’s always been known to everyone in the area, has been there pretty much since Lakeside shopping centre was built.

Good old 'Old Orleans' used to go here after Lakeside to shopping, definitely here early 2000's. Great explore mate!

It was Old Orleans in the late 90s I do believe, until 2007 when everything changed in Lakeside.
