Great review. The “ back play “ in the bezel is indeed a design feature to clear salt crystals and silt . This was explained to me when collecting a UX . Finally a manufacturer actually thought about “ what if someone actually uses this as a working watch ? “ ;)
@StandardTime

Thanks Eric! It’s going to be hard to consider most other watches as “tools” despite their features and ratings now haha. There’s so much actual engineering that they’ve done with the watch itself. The movement may be run of the mill but it’s practical and functional to not waste money and resources reworking a utilitarian movement.

Excellent review, thank you very much! I once asked the guy at the Sinn Store in Frankfurt (gotta check it out in case you visit Germany!) why the silicone strap is about as expensive as the bracelet and he told me it's the clasp, which, as you point out in your video, is more sophisticated than the one of the bracelet. I own a Sinn U1000, which is the chrono of Sinn's U series (discontinued, an over-engineered BIG chunk of submarine steel, I love it). Just last week, I had the silicone strap replaced. They replace just the two silicone parts, and these are 'only' 70 Euro (still expensive, but, you know...). So apparently yes, it's the clasp.

I recently purchased the U50-Full T version on bracelet three weeks ago and I gotta say that it's better than I expected. Mine has the updated Sellita SW300-2 with a new larger and powerful mainspring barrel which increases the power reserve to 56+ hours, it is a top grade movement and tightly regulated for accuracy. Under the loupe I see crisp and sharp printing on the dial with zero error and super clean with no debris to be found! My example has zero play and the the bezel action is great. He U50 is a wonderful pro diver/tool watch with e excellent tight tolerances.

Got mine a week ago. Fantastic watch all the way. I personally don't mind the "inferior" clasp on the bracelet, tho I do own a few lower priced watches with slightly better clasps. The U50 is a must have tool watch!

I wish they upgraded lume on hands and dial, like more layers and better precision at aplication, and 12h bezel trapezoid shape is all over the place too, what I saw. Since the price goes up 12% every year I would expect more from them.

I have 6.1inch wrists, will I be able to size the bracelet for my wrist? I can't find this information anywhere online. Amazing review by the way, the best watch review I've ever seen. I like your in-depth approach and how you show your own personal experience.

Thanks mate. Regarding sizing the bracelet, I can't recall well enough about how many links can be removed. I'm fairly certain it should work as your wrist is of seemingly ordinary proportions. However, I guess best option would be to ask Sinn directly, either through instagram as a dm or comment.

That's a very nice review, that mirrors my impressions and experience of the watch (U50T with bracelet + silicone + tegimented clasp). My only knock on the deployant clasp coming with the silicone strap is not its length but is thickness. It's probably very good when employed on the U1, which has a significantly thicker case, ast it counterbalances it visually. But the U50 case being so thin, having such a thick clasp creates a lack of balance. Plus, it makes it harder to fit under a cuff.
@StandardTime
@StandardTime 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Johnny! I see how the thickness could be unfavourable. I never tried to fit this piece under a cuff so didn't notice that. Regarding the weight, I didn't feel that to influence the balance but I guess that depends entirely on how tight you wear the strap and whether there's a lot of traction between your wrist and the band.
@johnnyguitar6697
@johnnyguitar6697 3 жыл бұрын
@@StandardTime The balance I was referring to is strictly visual, nothing to do with the weight. It's just odd to have a thin cased sports watch, but then looking from the side the clasp is so thick comparatively.

I bought a U1 (black on the silicone strap) used with box & papers 2 years old: $1,900.00 I work with motorcycles & I don't have to concern myself with scratching it. And I live by the beach, I can take a quick run to the ocean & not remove it. It's a Hulk of a watch though. I think I could break a car window with it if I had to. The strap was thick as a car tire. I replaced it with an after market silicone that is a little slimmer.
@StandardTime
@StandardTime 2 жыл бұрын
It’s such a solid piece. Makes perfect sense for your use cases. I really like the strap dimensions on the U50, perhaps the U1 has it a bit thicker.
@privateaccount6827
@privateaccount6827 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it is thicker on the U1. And when I stated ''I don't have to worry about scratching it' I was referring to the tegmented steel (and I have the fully black coated mode. I forget what they cal their process) I'm more concerned with scrathing the motorcycles :))

as in ago 31 2021 U50 you pay tegiment option 400 €????????
@Nikola__K
@Nikola__K 2 жыл бұрын
Bro someone thought you bad. The U1 has the same price as the U50 There is a TEGIMENT option for both of the models, and if you choose that option with both models again u get the same price. The only difference is in size the U50 is a lot smaller the U1, and it is not as water resistant. So yea if your buying for your kids or have a extremely small wrist get the U50, if you have a normal wrist get the U1. If you want a bigger many watch but want more comfort get the T1 it is lighter because its made of TITANIUM and it molds to the hand better. The U1 is a tool wach its supposed to be a big fat wach that never brakes! If you like the Sinn design but want something more dress worthy get the 556i its also cheaper and has a nice display case back.
@StandardTime
@StandardTime 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about now, but when the video was made it was as I explained. Watch was sent in directly by Sinn from their headquarters in Frankfurt and that’s also where the information was clarified.

@@StandardTime Current factory prices with metal bracelets: U1= 2190€ U50= 2190€ UX= 2190€ U1 TEGIMENT= 2540€ U50 TEGIMENT= 2540€ UX TEGIMENT= 2540€ T1= 3010€ U212= 2650€ U2= 2590€ U2 TEGIMENT= 2940€ TEGIMENT is a process that makes the metal hard as ceramic and almost unscratchable. This term in the wach name means that the entire wach and bracelet have received this treatment, and are therefore more expensive then the standard version. But I suppose the prices stay the same for all the 3 standard models: U1, U50 and UX so that it’s easier to decide and so that no wach looks like its superior to the other. I also think that they made that so that a person with a small wrist doesn’t need to pick the big wach because its more expensive and later regret his choice. And that someone who likes the UX model doesn’t feel like he made an inferior choice because he didn’t pick an automatic or he bought a cheaper wach. This is what wach equality looks like 😂 Price source: sinn.de

I have had 2 love them but the roto on both is loud and scratchy sounding. The AR coating on the outside looks nice until you scratch it then it looks like crap. In my opinion why make a bulletproof watch and put an AR coating on the outside.

That’s just the Sellita movement. Unfortunately it can’t be mitigated :( I’m personally quite careful with my watches and I’ve got one with dual sided AR and I haven’t scratched it over the last 4 years luckily. So I guess it depends on person to person and how much of a tool you use it as.
