Considered one of the greatest sermons ever preached, and is thought to be the catalyst that launched the "Great Awakening" revival in America. As Jonathan Edwards preached the sermon, many in the congregation began to fall on their knees, weeping and crying out for mercy from the Living God. This is the type of bold and clear message that desperately needs to be preached in our churches today.

'Such was the impact of his preaching that the people listening shrieked and cried out, and the crying and weeping became so loud that Edwards was forced to discontinue the sermon. Instead, the pastors went down among the people and prayed with them in groups. Many came to a saving knowledge of Christ that day.' When Jonathan Edwards preached the famous sermon 'Sinners in the hands of an angry God' on July 8th 1741.

When I witness in town tomorrow afternoon I’ll be telling folk what happens if they don’t truly repent. This is what is desperately missing in modern evangelicalism which merely aims to tickle ears instead of quickening souls.
