Sintra is a small city located in the Serra de Sintra mountains in the Portuguese part of the Lisbon region. The city is only 30 km from the capital of Portugal and is a popular tourist destination due to its beautiful natural scenery, cultural heritage and splendid palaces.
Sintra has a rich history, which is evidenced by many historical buildings and monuments. The city has many interesting places to visit, such as the Castle of the Moors, Quinta da Regaleira and Pena Palace, which served as the residence of Portuguese kings in the past.
All in all, Sintra is a great place to relax and get to know the history and culture of Portugal.
What to visit in Sintra is a must:
1. Pena Palace is one of the most famous palaces in Portugal and a popular tourist destination in Sintra. The palace was built in the 19th century on top of a mountain, offering magnificent views of the city and the surrounding countryside.
The architecture of Pena Palace is a unique combination of different styles such as Gothic, Renaissance and Moorish style. Despite the fact that it was built relatively recently, its architecture and decor include elements that belong to different eras and cultures.
Inside the palace there are many interesting rooms and halls. All rooms are decorated with a variety of objects such as paintings, sculptures, furniture and jewels that showcase the wealth and luxury enjoyed by the Portuguese kings.
