This is a really good lesson, I liked it a lot. You used visuals, you had a welcoming classroom representing many cultures. You broke up the tasks and offered explicit instructions for each task at the onset of the task, you did frequent checks for understanding, and frequent check-ins giving the students opportunities to demonstrate learning. It was largely a student-centered lesson where students worked in groups to figure out of the nouns were count or non-count nouns. You paced your speech to be clearly understood and you had a good rapport with the kids - and they with you. I really liked it. If I were to rate you on Danielson, you'd be pleased with the outcome.

I would have allowed the students to read each word and then place it in its correct noun category. This is a great lesson. I love that she allowed the students to work in groups. I love the examples. The students were happy to get the answers correct. I can not wait to get back into the classroom!

I've also got to ask: what grade is this? or is it a variety of grades?

Is the interpreter typically used in newcomer lessons in your district?
@marycasey20067 жыл бұрын
There is a full-time interpreter that works with the newcomer program, which is where I was doing my practicum when I taught this lesson. There are, normally, 15-19 students in this program at any given time.

The translation is ¨pronombres¨ and she said ¨nombres y sujetos....¨
@hcamacho8372 жыл бұрын
Actually, 'pronombres' are pronouns and this lesson is about a specific category of nouns so 'nombres' or more accurately, 'sustantivos' is the correct translation.

But the content and language objectives weren’t presented!

I know! I don't understand why. Casey also doesn't provide written instructions for the group activity, at least not until she hands out the cards.
