Love the underground hardcore tele club convos. Great summertime content, and will save you guys from going insane having the same boot convos on repeat. Leave it to tele skiers to put carbon fiber sheets in their boots LOL keep it up

This the first one I have watched. Would be interested in conversations about women in tele, equipment challenges etc. BTW am very limited in boot sizes, low upper volume foot, truly duck feet and at the low end of the size range.

Glad you checked this out. We did a few in this format back in 2021 -- I'm always looking for more women to do the podcast, vids, etc. Boot selection is in fact very very limited for women's only boots. I am no expert despite being certified in both Alpine and Tele. Haven’t been on my free heels since before the pandemic, pretty rusty. What is funny is that I got my start on skis cross country after moving to Alaska in the late 70s, then ended up in the Seattle area and tried to ski some brand of leather boot (wished had kept them) and Karhu XCDs with scales, LOL! I was a disaster, could not get on or off the lift in one piece, took a trip to Red Mountain and tried to use a T-bar, it won! That is when I decided that to at least get to a level of an intermediate alpine and returned to tele about 7 or 8 years ago. Currently on NTNs and and Scarpa TX pros for woman, the silver and fascia boots. I do instruct at Mt. Bachelor alpine on AT gear. BTW, Sarah probably knows Greg Dixon who is on the PSIA Telemark Demo team, and is the Mt. Bachelor training director where I instruct. @@FreeheelLife

Good stuff! I have large calves and have never been truly happy with the TX Pros since switching over from T2s. To give my calves some breathing room I am thinking about removing the top buckle, chopping the boot down, and moving the strap down. Cool to see what Craig did there. As for skiing in walk mode - I definitely do this some times, makes it feel more like T2s. First 13 years in T2s, last 7 NTN. Get Craig a Freeheel life visor. For the binding convo - get into the BMF!!! I switched three years ago and the BMF is the closest to 75MM flex I have felt on NTN.

Question about liners. When I am molding the liner I bring my ski to the shop, so as the liner cools I put the boot in the binding to get the flex of the boot. Does that make any difference to the liner?

We keep it all stationary until everything is cooled off.

@@FreeheelLife was wondering, if it makes a difference for the amount of time you need to break in the boot or the amount of foam in the flex zone. Scarpa tx comp boot. Any thoughts? Or there is no need to do the flex as it cools. Any boot fittters out there for an option?

I just cut & pasted this from the original 2018 event. We do it every year and the kneepad hangs in our shop. - Madsen Put on all of your best retro telemark gear and gather with the rest of the Hippies, Punx & Misfits. COMPETELETITION: If you want to tele ski for the glory of having your name on the wall of Freeheel Life for all eternity show up with the following: Highboy at Alta. 6-pack entry fee. No rules. Overall impression judged by 3 judges each scoring on scale of 10. Skis can't be over 70mm underfoot and must be 200+ cm in length. All bindings must be pre-G3 Targa i.e. 1997 or earlier. Leather boots only. Plastic cuffs are acceptable - Merrell Super Comps, etc. NO PLASTIC BOOTS. The winner gets their name engraved for eternity on the Smelly Kneepad.
