Nothing but absolute respect for Sir Alex. As a Dutchman it is beautiful to see how well Eric ten Hag is being received and appreciated by the supporters of MU. He truly is a very good coach ( that’s how we call it in Holland). And now a good manager in England, which is different from what he is used to. I am not surprised at all he is doing so well at MU, but I am surprised by the speed in which his teambuilding is unfolding. Back to the basics, first start to work for your money, just be on time, be glad you are a professional footballer, be glad you have the honor to play for this club with all its history, start with doing your best and defending well, be hungry to win the ball, be hungry to score the goal, enjoy the qualities of your teammates, and start competing, then start winning. It says a lot about the hunger from the fans, club and I think also the players that he is being so welcome. There was a (hidden) longing towards an honest, hard working guy, with clear rules and no exceptions. And with little mental space for prima donna’s. With the distance from Holland it looks like everybody is relieved by finally having a manager who has a splendid good sense of reality of what is possible in this moment in time and a dream and conviction about what is possible and simply doable for a club like MU in the (near) future. There is no doubt in my mind that Eric ten Hag wants to win the CL league with MU. And perhaps more importantly, wants to do it in a style that fits the culture of MU. That’s also why I think Sir Alex and he seems to get along so well. In a way they recognize that the club is bigger than they are, but they also share the secret that the club needs true men like them to keep up, protect, make anew the shining history in the present. It is going to be an adventure.

This is what Man United needed, a trainer manager who unites the past and the now and the future. He not only sits behind his desk, he's on pitch, working with all the players. He gives them direction. That's all they needed and that's basically the most important task of a manager: provide direction and guide with a clear vision. He has the great Sir Alex Fergusson's blessings and approval. Sir A. Fergusson knows Ten Hag is the real deal. And I'm pretty sure that he appreciates the fact that Ten Hag shows him his respect and doesn't view him as a potential threat or someone who is after his position. He knows that Sir A. Fergusson is a true man of the club who doesn't have eternal life and all he wants is to see the glory of his club restored, before he moves on to the other world. Ten hag now has the right people around him. Has the full support of the fans. Heck, even other managers like Klopp and Guardiola respect him. Not just in words but genuinely. Especially Guardiola because he knows him very well. I hope the ones who run Manchester United, and the fans, give Ten Hag enough time. The success thus far has been 75% hard work but 25% luck. So they're not there yet. These numbers need to become 99% hard work and 1% luck. He needs at least 2 fullseason to build the foundation for a sustainable future succes.

I was a pessimist when Ten Hag came in, thought the jump from success with Ajax to a club like United was too much, and that United were well and truly gathering 'the scraps' left by the bigger teams on all fronts. What do I take from this cup success and current form?!? We finally have a manager players will want to play, and will be able to attract better players in the summer. This 'transition period' has lasted longer than any of us imagined, and with each disappointing year you felt the hole was getting deeper. Now we have a manager with his own stamp on the squad and the rebuild isn't anywhere near complete (and a handful of exits in the summer will determine how many new players come in) but it's foundations are definitely there. The egos are gone, the hunger is back, for the first time in a long time I'm full of expectation instead of just hope
