Redoing front yard 22m2 would using usga sand be fine for the underlay

To be fair SG grass doesn’t grow very tall, retains some green colour during winter. Young kids touched multiple times to makes sure real not fake😁 very soft

I'm in Perth and basically my whole block is sand. Can I lay this straight down on it and have it looking fantastic like that? Every other lawn needs so much soil prepping!

Sir Grange is best laid on 100-200ml of a straight sand base, so this should be okay. It depends on soil temps, but it could be anywhere between 2-6 weeks from install, with variety also playing a part. Essentially your new turf is ready to be mowed for the first time as soon as its sent roots down and is firmly planted to the soil and cannot be lifted easily.

What blend of sand to soil is recommended? I’m about to build a new lawn and want to get the right base for this grass?

Its recommended to install a good sand/organic or 80/20 base of at least 100mm (more if your existing base is poor) - the more the better the lawn will perform. I recommend you reach out to your local supplier directly for their recommendation specific to your particular climate.

Can this stuff handle the cold(Canberra) or will the frost kill it?

Sir Grange Zoysia will go dormant and lose a lot of colour in the Canberra climate, which is quite normal for a warm season grass, as is some frost burn when frost occurs. It won't die, as it is only the leaf that is usually impacted by the frost. We would recommend having a chat to the local turf supplier about the options they have available for you and the particular area you might be looking to install turf.

Looks like a magic lawn. Pity I recently installed Sir Walter and don’t want to go through the entire process again. It may look better in parts of my yard where there is a lot more shade as the Sir Walter is a little patchy.

Sir Grange is only available in solid turf/sod material, but it is originally from the US where it is known as Zeon Zoysia. Bladerunner Farms is the breeder where it comes from, I recommend you reach out to them directly.
