Rod birley ran one in a sierra and a prelude in thundersaloons well into the 1990's and was very competitive. The GAA was a formula 2 engine so not very standard at all

It’s a promotional video for the then new Escort Mk 2 in the mid 70s Sir Jackie did a lot of promotional videos with Ford as he had close links with them back then

@@nigeh5326 Sir Jackie was/is deeply concerned about driving safety and Ford essentially sponsored a lot of his initiatives. He used Ford vehicles and resources to further his agenda and Ford got a lot of good publicity. Ford squandered most of that with the Pinto gas tank crisis.

James Williams: The RS 1800 has an R registration. In the UK that makes it a car from the period August 1st 1976 through to July 31st 1977.

The answer to that I would love to know as well. The text sounds like the Escort Mk2 rally program has yet to start. But the R-reg is at least 1 1/2 years into the program. And if I am not mistaken, the Escort L with the square Ghia headlights was even the very last production year of the Mk2.
