Proper business ethics..only keep staff you need, why pay staff that’s surplus?

The issue with the "jobs being a drain on the finances" perspective is that it's UPPER MANAGEMENT's responsibility to NOT create such redundant roles in the first place. That way you can save jobs and money without laying off tons of people for little fiscal benefit. It's the same position I've held in response to Sony's and Microsoft's actions by closing down ENTIRE companies because of their nonsensical financial reports in the Computer Game Industry. There is a logic and an art to management, something that INEOS has a track record of flaunting at a great human cost.
