Agree with a lot of what he says about taking time, but the ‘knock off the perch’ comment will come back to bite him and makes him look naive. City are light-years ahead of Utd and it will take at least a decade for Utd to make up the ground they’ve lost since Fergie left. City is not unassailable -particularly with FFP clinching down. Liverpool has shown that, and United can do so too. It will be a few years until its realistic. Pep might have moved on by then.

while I welcome the effort, I remain sceptical Sir Jim Ratcliffe might pull it off. To beat Ferran Soriano, Txiki Begiristain and Pep Guardiola you would need a pair of sporting director and coach / manager who get along well, who share the same vision about football and who recruit well, really well. You need young talent with hunger. not spending fortunes of already established stars. Let's see if they are able to pull it off while Pep and Txiki are still there. Liverpool has done (once and come close twice) so it is not impossible.

Manchester united is the biggest club in the Uk. It’s not just words it has been confirmed a large amount will be spent on renovating the stadium or even building a new stadium and further funds will be given to improve other issues. I was a skeptic as well at one point but have come to realised it’s important to back the owners.

It shouldn't take that long ... And it is not a question of money but to have a competent sporting director being fed info from an excellent scouting network. Just look at @GironaFC, they share the same scouting network with Manchester City & Txiki Begiristain. And with a tiny budget of only 59m euros are currently second and have been leading La Liga until week 20 while the previous season finished mid-table. The key is to get the recruitment right and have a competent manager / coach.

Pep Guardiola left FC Barcelona because the meddling of newly appointed president Sandro Rosell resulted in Txiki leaving the previous season and that compelled Pep to leave the following season. In 4 years at Barcelona Pep faced Real Madrid 17 times only to lose twice (once in Nou Camp and once in Valencia Cup final which I saw live from the stands) Pep didn't lose a single match at Bernabeu in 4 seasons. So Pep OWNED Real Madrid and Mourinho. Once the scoreline was 5-0 in 2010 and 2-6 at Bernabeu in May 2009 which was the day Messi played as "false 9" for the 1st time.
