Sir Winston Churchill's Grave : Walking through History in Bladon Village, ENGLAND

Bladon is a village in Oxfordshire, England, and it is known for being the burial place of Sir Winston Churchill. Sir Winston Churchill was a prominent British statesman who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II. He passed away on January 24, 1965, and was buried in the Churchill family plot at St. Martin's Church in Bladon.
The first written evidence of Bladon was recorded in 1086.
The village has a long history, with records of human habitation dating back to Roman times. The name "Bladon" is believed to have Anglo-Saxon origins, and it has evolved over the centuries
The early history of Bladon is chiefly concerned with the quarrying of limestone which was used in many of the local buildings.
The Parish Church of St Martin was originally 11th or 12th century, but was rebuilt
The village, along with nearby Woodstock, was also a centre for the glove-making industry.

Thanks for this. I was at Bladon years ago to visit the gravesites with a late UK friend and it still looks as lovely as in the past. The sounds of vehicles, however, seems much to have increased.

Thanks for the tour, from Melbourne, Australia. I have been doing my family tree and some of my relatives lived in Bladon. My Great Grandfather was a gamekeeper at Blenheim Palace and lived High Lodge on the estate, where 5 of his 14 children were born (and baptised at St Marins). He was born in Scotland and him and his wife Ellen Rhodes were married at St Martins. Ellen’s parents lived in Bladon and are buried at St Martins. It is family lore that my Great Grandfather, Andrew Shiells, taught Winston Churchill how to shoot. How true that is I don’t know but it makes for a good story! My Great Great Grandparents, Edmund Richard Rhodes and Emily Ann Green lived in Providence Place and 2 The Green in Bladon, so a hello to anyone who lives there today!

I live in the USA, and watch many of these walking tours because I lived in England as a child. I can’t help but wonder why there never seems to be any newly installed graves in any of the cemeteries in these videos.
