Girls Generation and 2NE1 was the biggest competition of the 2nd Gen girl groups. That era is definitely legendary. i would say Girls Generation is perfectly perfect and 2NE1 is imperfectly perfect if you get why i mean (Based on their styles). 2NE1 is the anti / total opposite of girl groups at the time and that made them unique. With other girl groups mostly styled as cute and feminine, 2NE1 wore boyish, dark or even baggy clothes and had crazy hair styles plus their aura on stage is like punky and bad ass. 2NE1 IS THE ORIGIN and the BLUEPRINT for the GIRLCRUSH genre in kpop much like GIRLS GENERATION IS THE BLUEPRINT of GIRLGROUP in korea. The songs and choreography of these two legendary groups are what makes the younger generation’s inspiration for their auditions to their agencies. They know every song and every choreo (not really required) or else they are not considered educated on their senior’s history and they will be viewed as disrespectful. That’s how legendary this era is. It might have been the biggest fan wars back then, but I hope one day to see them all together again ❤️ PS i am a huge fan of both group, i watched every single one of their MVs, variety shows and dramas, commercials etc. @SirAustin Can I request for you to react to 2NE1 and Girls Gen music videos that are actually commercial ads? I'm mainly a SONE and SONE vs Blackjacks fanwar is one of the most iconic fanwars in kpop community because they're such amazing groups no one can deny. This reaction video gave me goosebumps. Not to mention these songs are my fave 2ne1 songs.

Yes, they were under YG and unfortunately the group was mismanaged and the members did not receive equal opportunities. The reason you don't remember Minzy is because she never got the chance to have solo projects when she was in the group. When they debuted Minzy was only 15 years old and was the lead vocalist, lead rapper and main dancer of the group and is still considered one of the best dancers in kpop. When they debuted Dara and Bom they were already known from previous works, so they were initially the ones with the most fans and the first to release a solo song. Then in the last few years YG decided to focus the group's attention on CL (for example in Crush she sings most of the song) and she also debuted as a soloist and she should also has to release a solo album in the USA. Then, as usual, YG managed her career badly and the album was never released. Going back to Minzy, when the group was supposed to renew the contract she decided not to do it, because YG didn't want to give her solo promotions even though the group was on hiatus for years following a scandal (that YG handled badly) and didn't even intend to give 2NE1 a comeback. In seven years, 2NE1 released two mini albums and two full albums, always followed by very long pauses. Due to these long hiatus periods and the fact that YG called the girls ugly multiple times, Minzy started suffering of depression. She was also treated as a traitor by the fans for leaving the group and receiving a lot of hatred on social media for that. In general, the whole group was handled very badly and unfairly. Bom was kicked out of YG after the group disbanded, which decided to keep only Dara and CL. CL was supposed to release a solo album, but YG never let her do it and didn't even answer her calls and once her contract expired she decided to leave too. Dara has worked as a host of various programs or as an actress since thedisbandment, but she has never released other solo songs despite having expressed a desire to do it many times and now she has left YG too. The members are still in contact and support each other in their solo activities.

I’m glad you’re diving deeper into some 2nd gen groups, and I think you’re slowly realizing that older kpop is a lot more experimental and usually include several genres, not that kpop today doesn’t do the same, but it wasn’t integrated as well in some songs back then and the beat changes were much more drastic, like GG’s I Got A Boy, and I personally love songs like Come Back Home, especially the more edm prechorus, but I think a lot of us are just more used to it because we’ve been listening to kpop for over a decade…..the rap verses just shoved in at like formulaic places in songs was just the way they wrote songs then too….. From what you said, I think you would really love the acoustic version of Come Back Home, it’s gorgeous and live performances of it are one of my favorite live performances in all of kpop

If there is one kpop group that comes really really close to Girls' Generation and their total rival during their prime, that's 2ne1. Both untouchables during the golden ages of kpop.

I Love You, Falling in love, Gotta be You, and I Don’t Care have to be some of my favorite 2ne1 songs. They are also way more captivating live! The 2015 Mama performance is always iconic, also the I Don’t Care rock version.

Hey, Austin! I'm really sorry to hear how defensive some of the Blackjacks in the comments were in your previous 2ne1 reaction videos. Which is why I was surprised (and h-a-p-p-y Haha!) that you gave them another chance. I can kinda understand why some Blackjacks were defensive (does not in any way justify being mean) though. 2ne1's disbandment was very messy. Over time, we, including me, have this fear of them being forgotten since they're no longer active as a group (they have awesome solo projects songs now!) Long story short, I appreciate you for always trying to be respectful and honest about parts you like less! =) There is enough negativity in the internet as it is.

OMG I've been hoping you would revisit 2NE1!!!!! I would say this list is a little biased towards they're moody songs haha, they have BOPS for days!!! I'd recommend Falling in Love, Do You Love Me? And GOTTA BE YOU and be ready to dance!!!!!

The beauty about 2NE1's discography is that its so diverse most Blackjacks dont get offended if you dont vibe with 1 or 2 songs. Also, the songs are timeless so if you listen to them often, it'll grow on you. 2NE1 also offer a 2nd or even 3rd version of the songs so fans dont get bored esp on music shows. Still, people should be able to be honest and say if they didnt like the mvs/music. It will shock and annoy most Blackjacks though if you watched their live performances and didnt enjoy watching them live. GG is my ultimate girl group, but 2ne1 is also one of my favs. Both groups changed the game for girl groups in kpop. What's weird is there's quite a few 2ne1 songs that just aren't my thing yet I still think they are one of the best girl groups. That's the impact they have. I love several of their b-sides actually more than a good portion of their title tracks. Love is Ouch, Hate You, and Pretty Boy are some of my all time fav of theirs. I Love You is one of my fav title tracks!
