About SIREN:
“Siren” takes us inside Bristol Cove-a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean. The series stars Alex Roe (“The 5th Wave”) as Ben, a bright marine biologist who finds himself drawn to a mysterious new girl in town, Ryn, played by Eline Powell (“Game of Thrones”), who is a strange young woman with a deep dark secret. Fola Evans-Akingbola (“An American Exorcism”) stars as Maddie, also a marine biologist who works with Ben, and is highly suspicious of Ryn. Ian Verdun (“Life’s a Drag”) stars as Xander, a deep sea fisherman on a quest to uncover the truth; and Rena Owen (“Star Wars” Episodes II and III) as Helen, the town eccentric who seems to know more about the mermaids than she lets on. Based on a story by Eric Wald and Dean White who both serve as executive produces. Emily Whitesell (“Finding Carter”) is on board as Showrunner and Executive Producer. Brad Luff, Nate Hopper and RD Robb are also attached as executive producers.

I love that what makes "Siren's" mermaids different, is their animalistic approach and mannerisms. Hope-smelling Ryn and the two circling each other just made me think of two wolves. And I've also found that the merpeople are very cat-like in how they move and communicate with each other.

For anyone confused why Hope has blonde hair; I think genetics are random in the mermaid world just like cats and dogs maybe, but also how Ryn's sister is completely black and Ryn is completely white.

I was asking myself the same question, even though in the water their skin color is pretty much the same I'm confused about mermaids genetics in human form, Hope's father looks Arabic and Ryn is so white you might think their daughter will look mixed-race at least. Lol.

I don’t wanna seem like a complainer, but what the hell is the writers doing with Maddie’s character. I’m upset on how they’ve did her this season. She’s a main character yet she’s never around for the important parts. It’s always Ben/Ryn and I get that the 3 of them aren’t together anymore but that makes Maddie all of sudden irrelevant to the storyline? It’s like she’s there but she’s not there.

I don't think that they're making her irrelevant to the storyline, but rather setting her up for her own for the next season. It seems like they're pushing her and Xander together, with the way the chemistry seems to be building. Especially with the way she was holding his hand and stuff in the hospital.

Nah, is normal. Maybe one of ryn parent where blonde or one of the father parents is blonde. I seen it happen before. The child end up with similar hair of the grandparents. Like my niece who has hair like my mom and I but not her dad or mom

Jade Explicit We also have no idea how mermaid genetics work. For all we know, dark vs light coloration could be just autosomal recessive on one or two genes, instead of the more varied mix humans have (where a dozen different genes control just one small aspect of color/appearance; that MC1R gene that gives red hair/coloration, for example, is actually controlled by SIX genes, not just that one). We also know that mermaids aren’t monogamous, so Ryn and Donna most likely have different fathers. So, let’s say, light coloration is dominant. That would most likely mean that Ryn’s mother was either dark-colored or a carrier for it, and her father could’ve been either light or light-cattier while Donna’s father was dark. Hope’s father isn’t as dark as either Donna or Cami, so assuming light is dominant, he could be an entirely different color mutation, or Hope could become darker as she gets older. It’s pretty common in a lot of species for juveniles to have different coloration than adults. Could be to keep them camouflaged or just make identifying them easier. So Hope might have blonde hair now, but that doesn’t guarantee it will stay blonde.
