Just what I needed - I’m so sick of being detected when trying to detect threats. I do really appreciate it’s light-weight design, thinking of strapping it to the top of my car roof.

Software defined radio. They make twenty dollar usb sticks that are basically universal broad spectrum receivers. You use software to "tune" into specific frequencies or signals. But the device itself is capable of capturing everything between 5Hz and 5ghz or something close to the entire radio waves part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Of course, to pick up lower power signals on shorter wavelengths you might need specifically tuned antennas, but the device itself will decode it if it can get it.

@@PhilLesh69 yeah but that software is often what people are looking for contains radio secrets, looks for previously defined patterns and classifys them... the classification data of course i'm also guessing they don't seem to explain what it is very well.... but that's what i'd expect i was buying, their experience in classfying the threats

@@PhilLesh69 The really cheap usb sticks you talk about are only good from a few kH up to around 3Ghz. You want higher or lower you need better stuff or add on converters. Converters have drawbacks and just receiving wideband is better. But Noolec has some nice goodies, some others too. For a few hundred you have from around 2kHz to 6-8Ghz in a single compact receiver, for €1000 you got 2 or 3 receivers with gimmicks in a compact box with all the spectrum for some awesome trickery.

Folks are joking about this, but pay close attention to the direction finding part. If you push the "transmit" button on any radio, you're telling this system exactly where you are. In WWII, direction finding was used extensively to fix the position of and subsequently sink German submarines. Now take that idea, and put it in the context of directing drone strikes on Russian field commanders.

The sensor is passive,however the data have to be transmitted,especially from the drone..

A narrow width transmission from a passive scanning system can be relatively easily encrypted, and not easily pinpointed. A giant, radiation spewing f*** off scanner, not so much. It's the difference between listening for a sound in the distance, and screaming loudly into the distance and waiting for the acoustic echo to reach you. Nobody knows when you're just listening for noises, but everybody knows when you're screaming like a Banshee from the top of a hill.

I wonder what bandwidth can it capture and what is the detection range. Seems to be useable only for ground operations. For aerial use you need great range (hundreds of km) to be usefull due to speed of jets.

It's probably a good wide-spectrum SDR with custom software to classify and locate sources. Other than finding out if there's drones or radios about, don't know how this would benefit troops. Can't even locate anything without there being at least two of these in operation. We need demos!

'how this would benefit troops' = recon intel gathering on precise locations of communications/radar/covert forward operating bases/safehouses... just to name a few of the more obvious strategic implementations. Not to mention how this doesn't have to only benefit troops/manned vehicles but can be applied to UAV's also.

Regular antennas can't geo-locate without sending a signal back, which results in detection.

some days back i was dreaming about a raining of sensor devices on enemy lands, with capability for detect moving objects, from the ground sky and sea, that night i was fucking happy, i have a big screen-map where this devices tell me the location of the detections , the devices send me photos from every angle and info about every detection to discern btw other objects, civilians, and enemies, and when u give approve to the system for mark one object as enemy, the ia just coordinate everything for proceed "the best way" (auto arty, auto air drones, send warnings to the nearest ally troops etc.) i feel like playing a game

They could use one of these and an operator at Skinwalker ranch. They have some sort of invisible structure above the ranch. They are hiding it somehow, so you can't see it. You can bounce things off of it. How do they do that? We could use some sensors to figure out how they are hiding it. Who is they? Whoever built that thing is who.
