I miss these two so much... this is when film criticism actually meant something and more than opinions on social media. I truly took their recommendations to heart and fell in love with cinema and the movies as a result of their knowledge and enthusiasm (and love) for the movies!

Jesus, can you imagine the Twitter storm today if Rodge had said “no complaints from me” regarding seeing Cindy Crawford in a wet T-shirt?

There's nothing quite like 90s magical realism movies if you're in the mood to be baffled and occasionally laugh.

As an old soul person for 1995, Fair Game is a cool movie and I have to admit William Baldwin can shoot yo and I like the gunfighting scenes in Miami.

@@DeanStrickson Okay, I get it. You meant the clip from Copycat and he gave it thumbs down. He didn't give it thumbs down because of the clown killer Gacy. And with Roger, he said he didn't like clowns in his review of Shakes the Clown (show and print).

i recall a lot of critics put FAIR GAME on their worst list of that year. Holidays, was directed by Jodie foster, should have been MUCH better, but Bancroft (who is wonderful is everything and I love her) helps lift the characters

I think they made a really good point that the writer wrote powder so that the audience could feel smug and superior to the bullies.

Good lord, the score in Fair Game doesn't even sound like a real action movie score, that's like the generic score you'd find in a bad direct-to-video action film.

Downey was so high on Home For The Holidays he's nearly unwatchable. He even tells a story of director Jodie Foster catching him doing drugs in his dressing room and just walking away.

I'm surprised by the very negative review of Powder. I didn't think it was bad. It was an original story. it contained some interesting ideas and special effects. It had tension, and was well acted, I thought. I'm curious, did they hate Superman as well? He was picked on even though he could run faster than a car and score a touch down every time. I did find that a bit odd. Anyway, I found it more plausible that a recluse Albino with scary powers would be more the subject of hate and abuse than a normal looking uber athlete who's a little nerdy.

They're so right about Gold Diggers. The domestic violence stuff ground that movie to a halt. And it's a shame, because there was real talent there, totally squandered by that plot tumor. What could've been a classic kids' adventure turned into a dud.

_Powder_ is a terrible, terrible, _hideous_ movie. one of those garbage pails made by an up-and-coming dickhead directors who knew it was time to make his Oscar-bait Masterpiece. it's one of those movies where you can feel the director / screenwriter totally identifies with the brilliant main character and makes him snide and just a douche to people he considers mentally inferior. it's an AWFUL movie.
