Sissel Kyrkjebø and Russell Watson performing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" at a TV-concert in Oslo Spectrum, Norway in November 2002.
Sissel, the international singing sensation and national treasure of Norway, is established as one of the world’s leading crossover sopranos. Her angelic and powerful voice has made Sissel a national institution and she has sung all over the world, selling over ten million solo albums. She has contributed haunting vocal tracks for the soundtrack to Titanic and The Lord of the Rings, and has been performing duets with singers like Charles Aznavour, Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Mario Frangoulis, Josh Groban, Brian May, Neil Sedaka, Bryn Terfel and Russell Watson. In 2005, she was knighted by the King of Norway, as the youngest ever to receive this honour. And in 2006, her album 'The Spirit of the Season' with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir went to number-one on the Billboard Classical Charts, and received a Grammy nomination. A very remarkable voice that only comes once in our lifetime.

Possibly the best rendition of this song since the S&G. Her voice is immaculately pure and clear. His is a superb.blend of mellow and strong. Together they are made perfect by a orchestra with beautiful picolo highlights. Wonderous performance. Thank you all.

This was Alice and my wedding song 25 years ago, sung by an opera singer and (in a couple of years) the guitarist for the Counting Crows. I had not heard it better until now. Listen to the words, and think what the sentiments mean in a marriage. Marriage is an ultimate expression of friendship.

Simon and Garfunkel had a keen understanding of keeping instrumental accompanyment to a vocalist in its simplest and most classical form, note the same is true with this Paul Simon arrangment. Sissel's eyes have such resonance with her voice, and their audience contact renders the listeners heart tranquilized to her most restrained yet oceanic voice--streams in a desert. It was a restraint quite in contrasted to Russell. Norway has also given us Noortje van Middlekoop, the great pan flutist.

Paul Simon wrote this, yet another beautiful song/poem by him. I have always felt that Art Garfunkel "owned" this song. This performance though is mesmerizing...it is now, by far, my favorite duet and among my top favorite musical pieces. It is just wonderful.

Both are skilled singers, but Sissel does all the harmonies and sings in both keys, PLUS on killer heels (which means she has less support standing). Flawless voice and such a beautiful lady.
