@Federal Bureau of Investigation If anything the increased grip in the back would result in more understeer. But I don't think that's going to show in street driving. The only place she really needs grip is braking which should be improved with this setup, especially in wet conditions. As for drawbacks the increased drag, rolling resistance, unsprung weight and lower tire profile is going to be much more noticeable through ride quality and fuel consumption. But she wanted this look so... I'd also rather trade some gas mileage for more grip if it were my sister.

It does however reduce the rear end sliding while cornering, which is a possible set up on front wheel drive cars to combat understeer. Don't know if the Ford is set up this way from the factory. I'm just guessing. I doubt this car will ever see cornering speeds that brake tire grip.

Frank Ricard I understand how it works, I just wanted to hear the explanation. all cars are set up to prioritize understeer. Especially newer ones. To the common consumer understeer is more predictable and manageable than oversteer. More tire = more grip, which would likely reduce understeer because that tire is like 50% larger than the factory size. All of this is of course pointless information because this car will never see anything other than a street or backroad.
